Mine is only a c2, so I'm pretty happy with 3.9 Ghz. It will boot into Windows at 4.1, but it doesn't get stable at any voltage until I get it down near 3.9 Ghz. I'll probably keep it down near 3.8 most of the time so that I can lower the voltage and therefore the temps.

This thread is like revenge of the nerds. A rebuttal in the face of the jocular opposition(Intel, Nividia).

But moar power to you guys! I wish ATi would come out with a compute plug-in for their GPUs similar to nVidia's CUDA.

I'm aware that ATi uses OpenCL, but I'm unaware if there is a plug-in for popular graphics development/rendering software like Visual Studio and 3DS Max.

OpenCL, is the future, because its non-propritary (from what i know) and it will work on anything, where as nvidicrap will only work with PhysX

ANd to sweffymo thats a real nice OC on that CPU if its only a c2, from what i've read most can barely get to 3.8
post #234 of 1171
Damn i wish i could join, but my aunt bought me a Intel desktop to replace the old one :/ I'm all AMD and ATI.
Last update for me. I'm trying to cut back on my power consumption. I lowered my cpu's oc from 3.5ghz @ 1.45v to 3.255ghz @ 1.325v.

EDIT: don't quite put that in yet, I ran linx and it was fine for an hour and a half but I try to overnight test with prime95 and no good. I'll have to lower the clock a little more.

I have one of the very first Phenom2 940BE processors I don't know exactly which one it is. But yea I can get a max stable clock of 4ghz and 1.55v And I even had my case sealed with my AC unit sealed to it pushing 60f into my case through my water loop with a cpu temp of 19c full load and could not budge it beyond 4ghz idk maybe i have a dud?

You're very lucky that you can even get to 4.0 Ghz on that 940. Most have a wall at 3.6-3.7 Ghz. mine had a wall at 3.55 Ghz.

Well I do have somewhat of a wall at that area it just takes a massive voltage increase to keep going. I can run on stock voltage all the way till about 3.5 then i have to up the voltage to around 1.5-1.55 to get anything higher the real block seems to be around 3.9-4ghz The only thing that let me get to 4ghz was a new motherboard when i got my foxconn i had a very stable 4ghz. Im going to mess with the HT voltage more to see if i can get a stable 4.1-4.2 which i think im close to getting.
