Vista 5270 graphics card issue

Thread Starter
I have a slight problem. I jumped on the freebie bandwagon and "upgraded" my leadtek fx5900nu to a 5950u by changing the firmware.

The problem begins as soon as I log into Vista 5270 (64-bit) now....I get an insane amount of artifacts, because of the overclocking that the firmware causes. I controlled this in XP with nvtweak, but there is no such thing for Vista.

Is there any 64-bit utility that will allow me to control the frequency of my VC? It's really hard to do anything in Vista with the screen constantly flickering and resetting itself....
Btw, I thought of downgrading my firmware, but aside from having insane amounts of trouble finding it for the a350 lx model, when I did find it, it didn't work, showing a red X and giving the message "process failed" or something along those lines.

I just hope Chuck Norris reads these forums...he'd know....

Also, I don't know if this is ok on this forum, but if anybody could PM me the original firmware from their leadtek fx5900 lx, that would be super. yes, super.

Welp, thats what you get for using an OS still in beta and expecting everything to work...

1. you can wait for someone here to offer a solution, which probably wont happen as not a lot of people here are testing vista... sure they may have a build but they may not be official testers, in which case, they probably shouldnt be running vista in the first place...

2. hop on over to www.neowin.net to see if anyone actually has a work around... theres a huge number of testers over there and its possible someone can help

anyway, I doubt youll find a solution right now... as I said, seeing as how vista is still in beta, you cant actually expect fixes to problems such as the one youve described... youll have to wait till program authors can fully support the os

lol, this is an identical copy of a post I put up on neowin about 2 days ago and still have not gotten any help with. It's not the fact that it's Vista that's the problem...I'm just trying to "downgrade" my card again in XP, because I don't even play games or bench anymore, so I don't need the gain I experienced by chaning firmware...sorry to blab...but thanks for the reply, at least someone tried!

welp, that sucks about neowin, but it does happen sometimes

so youre saying you formatted and went back to xp but cant seem to flash the old bios back on the card and now the cards still messed up?... as for your cards bios, youll have to hope someone else here can help cause I dont have that bios... tho theres a couple sites out there dedicated to archiving card bios', try googling for your model

edit: http://www.mvktech.net/component/opt...rent,category/ looks like it may be what you need... otherwise, check out the models listed starting at http://www.mvktech.net/component/opt...cat,71/page,6/

Almost! That is definiely the right rom, major props on finding it cuz I searched through hundereds of pages of google results and couldn't do the same. Problem is, when I use nvflash or wfflash to change the firmware, I get the following error message:

Cannot find NV device.
Programming is Fail (X).
Cannot Map NV address.

I've seen a couple of cases where people had this, and they blamed it on a faulty card....is that the only possibility here?

Thanks again
