[Windows 7] Setting up the SMP client (v6.34) - Page 136

Hi Guys,

I hope im in the right thread, Ive just started folding under team OCN and am a little bit confused by the information on my user statistics, I was informed after posting on the "looking for a team to join" thread in the team competition section that after earning 50,000 points I would be eligible for a folding badge, Im not 100% sure exactly how to apply for this but here is a link to my folding stats so far if somebody can have a look and let me know if I am eligible yet? It say I have a score of 96025.

Sorry for being a pain.

Oh and in case you r wondering I somehow ended up in a team of 3 for some reason but im not sure if that is becasue i made the mistake of running the dos installer before realising it was the systray version I meant to install. Needless to say I have changed the number in the configuration panel to Team OCN since then.

Let me know if there are any probs with the link i have sent

Thanks very much

Just wondering, I have recently installed the SMP client and have set it to run on only 2 cores of my i7 2600K (Running on all totally ramped the temps to 98 using CoreTemp to monitor with my stock HSF)

Is there any performance difference between running it in cmd and as a service? I'm running as a service now just to get rid of the thing from the task bar without having to run yet another program (TrayIt!)

I thought there was at one point as I spotted HFM reporting 2 PPD/MHz but that may have been whilst I had no Antivirus... (McAfee messed up at about 03:45 and when I got up to check on things at 08:40 I found the computer at the log in screen with the hard drive churning away which didn't stop until I gave up fault finding as it was and turned it off foe a bit!)

PPD/MHz is now at 1.226 with Avast! - I think yesterday it was something like 1.4 maybe. Wondering if it is because it is now running as a service or whether the Antivirus really has that big a hit on folding performance!

My PPD does increase when running the the console client but not by a huge amount.

Right, I was wondering, If anyone here could tell me whether a sustained CPU temp of ~75C will harm my processor for the next few days before I get a beefier HSF? (i7-2600K @ 4.4Ghz)

I have the SMP client running on 3 cores with overall load on the CPU being 38% with the peak temp read by CoreTemp as 81C on a single core.

I know there may have been a thread on this somewhere at some point but figured that those running this client may have had to balance load and temps. If anyone could suggest a max temp for me, that would be great smile.gif (running 2 cores gave me an average of ~65C)

Did you add the "-smp" flag to the shortcut? And did you run the client using that shortcut (not the application itself)?
