Yeah, but since the main point of this update is to get rid of MPI, I'd do a complete reinstall anyway.

Great guide. It really helped me out a lot. I was getting really frustrated too lol. One question though. How do I know if I did the whole -bigadv WU thing correctly? I haven't noticed a difference in my PPD after doing it.
Do I have to wait for the next WU to load or something before I should see some sort of increase? I did notice though after doing a few of the other steps you pointed out that I do get my SMP WU's done a lot faster now.
thanks zodac!

one thing i would recommend though is adding a method for those who do not want the client to start at boot.

I personally only have one computer and so I cannot fold 24/7. I frequently do not want the clients running.

edit:

alright, I am supposedly only getting 2000 ppd from this client... what gives?

Are you going off of the PPD that is shown on the HFM.NET? If so then its not the right number because you will get bonus points after a while ( I believe it's after 10 WU's). Fold for a day about as much as you plan on folding on average and that will give you a good idea of how many PPD you will get ( it wont be perfect but it will give you an approximate amount that you should get on an average day, Also even if you fold the same amount of hours per day your PPD will shift from day to day depending on how fast your computer completes the WU's) (Oh and I don't pretend that I know all the answers, this is all info that I got from Zodac who helped me earlier ) I hope this helps at least a little bit. Did you setup a pass key? If not then you wont get any bonus points for your WU's (you can get a pass key from this website ==> http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/getpasskey.py) Happy folding

alright, I figured they would have fixed the monitor to represent the actual ppd by now. :-P

and yea, I am using a passkey, I have folded before, just not with this client, so i know that PPD fluctuates and all that. ;-)

If you don't want to have it start up automatically, just copy the shortcut anywhere except the StartUp Folder in the Start menu.

But, then this comes into play. Because of the bonus points, if you start the computer and haven't completed a WU, but don't start the SMP client, you'll be losing a lot of bonus points.

As for the PPD in HFM, go to Edit> Preferences> Options> "Calculate Bonus PPD and credit".

Mine just stays at 0%, I don't know what I could have done wrong.
Actually, it now says "Completed 0 out of 2000000 steps <0%>
Completed 20000 out of 2000000 steps <1%>"
Is it working how it should?

How long has it been running? P6701 is a bigger WU than some of the others... I can't remember the tiem per % for a 1090T, but it takes ~50 minutes for 1% for me.

But as long as you've installed HFM, and you're getting a yellow or green bar, things are working. Just give it a few mins.

At 1% completion, you should see initial PPD values... at 3% the bar will go green and you'll have accurate PPD values.
