I personally wouldn't bother with it. Technically anything is "fixable" the question becomes what level of repair is necessary. Unless you don't care about possibly throwing money out the window I would say don't go for it.

just a shame to see a bit of kit like that when im runnin a 16mb Vanta on the computer im on now.
Its a new stater overclock thing im justin doin CPU atm, but wud be ncie to have a GFX card to p[lay a few games.
SO you dont think reapplying Heatsink wiv new Thermal compund or even underclockign the card will help.

I may give it a go if i can get it for under £10

Have exactly the same problem with my Radeon 9700 PRO...
Those card just occasionally go mad(my friend used it while it accrued in a very power-demanding system, I guess that unstable power input caused the problem...)... I'll try to to reduce the voltages and the clocks as soon as I'll have a PCI card to bot through, this card usually hangs on bot-up.
Tho it does looks minor in compartment with my problem...

Yes I too had an old 9700pro with the same type of screen artifacts, thinking it was just a overheating through low power supply but alas it proved to be more fatal in the form of the core slowly degrading.

Stay clear of this would be my suggestion.

cheers

Hmm...
If you can get an 6800LE for this price it would be a bargain price...
Most dentally not at eBay, It's the first priority on the scale judging by extra performance you can squeeze from it.

The second one would probably be the 9800SE with L-shaped memory chips,
would unlock to 8 pixel pipelines!.
-6200 128-bit, and 9500 NP(Non Pro, l shaped) are nearly the same card, tho I'll go with the 9500,
even thought it doesn't have SM3.0 support, it has 256-bit wide memory interface, and will score more unlocked on the current benchmark software...
The only disadvantage of this card is that you will have to move an resistor under the HSF before if you want to use the most recent drivers instead the good old Omegas....

BTW... i modded the card into a 9500... It was quite easy!, Now it stable in 2-D applications, i just accidentally moved several other resistors and now need to replace them with tin foil...
Maybe that will solve the problem, So i want have to compromise even more on performance...
