XFX 5770 Video card issues

Thread Starter
first day with this card and I'm having issues with it... It seems choppy in BF2 even with 25+FPS like every other second its refreshing makes me die a lot in the game...

And when i go to oc it, CPU-z and ATi over drive both say the core clock is 400mhz>????? thought it was supposed to be 850 stock?

all help is appreciated.

EDIT: at this point I'm almost willing to spend the extra 100 and get another Nvidia card lol or a better ati card

Bring down the settings if the card cant handle it .What are your temps during game play ?the card downclocks for power saving . Load furmark or anything else 3d windowed to see 3d clocks.
And are you sure you aren't just lagging ?Any chance you are on a wireless connection ?

Im talking about single player, I haven't tried Multi yet, Also It idles at 34C which is great from what i've heard.

I loaded ATi tool and activity went to 96% used and the values still didn't jump from 400mhz....

Never encountered such an issue .I can recommend reinstalling your drivers first , get driver sweeper(free), load windows in safe mode and delete all ATi and NV drivers.Install new drivers .Check if it loads to full 850 mhz .If it doesn't work , another thing you can do is flash the bios.

Also i see you sig , says 950 mhz , was it working right before ?

i thought it was, it said overclocked but true value was 400mhz. so apparently not... could this be a faulty card?

nevermind overclocking works now, i tried ATI tray tools, ATI OVERDRIVE does NOT work. but im not sure on my Video issue now.

if using the latest drivers doesn't work

you might as well just try this:

go to control panel, power options, select high performance.

or you simply just have to set the speed manually in ati overdrive or riva tuner.

hope that helps.

So i'm pretty sure the card is fried, Or it was faulty. all was smooth once i got stock clocks running finally, then i got lines on the screen, and everytime i restarted the pc it would freeze i uninstalled the drivers and now im able to use it but as soon as drivers are installed or the resolution is over 640 the videocard freaks out...

I'm going to take it back ASAP, Never have i had this much time consumed into getting a video card to work.

So i have to wait 3 more hours for microcenter to open

If your sticking with the same card, I would suggest a complete reinstall of windows. Also install the leaked 10.3 drivers, they are the best drivers for the 5000 series. http://www.overclock.net/ati-drivers...71-leaked.html
