Could you recommend me some good RAM for my system?

Currently building:

AMD 64 3700+ SD e4 stepping
Asus A8N-SLI mobo
2 X WD SATA 80 gig HD in RAID 0
Big Typhoon CPU cooler
Ultra X-Finity 600 W PSu (SLI-cert)
BFG 7800 GT OC (will be going SLI as soon as affordable)
A few fans to keep it all cool

I was looking at going for 2 gig of RAM, and would want to do some overclocking, maybe boost my CPU to the 2.6 range, if possible, which means I need to be in the 240 range for the RAM if at 11X, 260 if 10X, no?

I have 4 slots for the RAM, so what would be the best bang for the buck here to get me there? I can go 2X1 or 4 X512.

Thanks a ton in advance.

Well from my experience dont get gskill rams, as ive heard its better to get 2x 1gb then 4x 512mb, i cant tell you exactly why and im not really shure if its true. but one thing you definetly should do is go here
and check out the qvl(qaulified vendor list) and get some rest which are on that list so you want have any compatibility issues with it.

well it helps us alot if you give us a price range to work with, and yes it is better to go with 2x1gb sticks than 4x512... so let me know a good price for you and ill go check some out...

here is my best reccomendation, but it comes at a price..http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227225

Thanks. Like I said, best bang for the buck. If we can keep it around $150-180, all the better.

Yeah, I was looking at that and am pretty tempted.

Here is another question that you might be able to answer:

Would I be better off for gaming performance to get some great high performance RAM and OC it well, or use 4X512 value RAM and use it to get an SLi for the 7800 GT? I am pondering this one, becuase I can do one or the other now.

Yikes, that is a tough question.

On one hand you have the fact that RAM has the worst $$$ vs. Performance ratio out of any one peice of hardware but in the end it really is icing on the cake.

On the other hand you have the fact that not many games currently even take advantage of an SLI setup.

Both products will loose their values at similar rates.

How about buy the good ram now and buy a second 7800GT when they get to $150-$200 in the next 4 months?(you'll see more SLI games then also)

I'd say just go with SLI and get the cheap ram but if you're anything like me, the fact that you have cheap ram in there running at 4x512, 2T with crappy timings would always eat away at me.

I'd always wonder, "what if".

Your call.

i personally would go with the ram now, and like ^ he said, get the other card when they are cheaper... you wont see any usable difference with an extra card right now, except in benches... which has no use really but to brag. so go with the ram, it will give you a performance boost and u can use it in future builds aswell... and in 4-6 months or so get the other videocard when they are dirt cheap and being utilized...

Geez man, you could at least take the time scroll your mouse wheel down a few clicks and type my name.

Even this would have been more respectful:withstupi
