I have my Phase Change Now!!!! - Page 2

Thread Starter
I already have a opteron 148 CACJE 0546 APAW. But I had water-cooling and now just got my new phase change unit in 3 days ago(Prometeia Mach II). I knew the cpu I had a cold bug (CACJE). Which I could only clock up to 2.8 on phase and with water-cooling I could get about 2.94 100% stable. But I bought a cpu the Opteron 148 0540 FPBW because I thought it didn't have the cold bug. But I put it on the phase change and it booted up first time into windows then it shut off about 1 minute into windows. So, I tried rebooting and rebooting but wouldn't ever detect the cpu. So I pulled it and then reseat it and still no go. Then took phase off of it and then it booted up. Then put the phase change back on and still won't boot. So, now am wondering what cpu will work with phase? Or what the problem is? Thank you, Micah

P.S. Here are 2 pics on phase but this is temp. setup testing, lol. Other pic is Pc on Water-cooling.

I think condensation is forming, did you put dielectric grease in the socket, on the back of the board and around the socket?, you should also have used plenty of sealstring.

Okay, The CPU's are fine it's just too cold to post because I pulled the phase off and it boots fine. No I didn't use die-electric grease and yes I use lots of seal string. -Micah

Also, I back off the srews holding phase head on the cpu to increase temps. And I have it idling about 1-5C and could boot at 2.9? But it would boot at 2.2-2.4?

You're gonna kill that CPU very soon, Condensation is forming and the CPU's pin's will rot, that's also the reason why you can't boot.

You must use dielectric grease is a must when using phase.

Oh, Thanks for the info guys. I didn't think it would matter. Because my opteron 148 CACJE 0546 will boot at -26 but my Opteron 148 CABYE 0540 won't. Also, The CACJE will only clock up to 2.8 on phase which it used to clock up to 2.9 on water. You think the dielectric grease fom not having any is causing this? Thank you, Micah
