I have my Phase Change Now!!!! - Page 3

It isn't necessarilly because he hasn't used grease, I have never used grease and i know many others that don't use it either. As long as you spend plenty of time and be very carefull with your seal string you don't NEED to use it. Although i'm not saying grease is bad... Its good just to make sure lol. I just don't like the idea of trying to clean it for RMA or sale lol.

I think using grease in the socket is a huge safety barrier, If you dont use it and kill your mobo or cpu or both then you will be kicking yourself, even when greased up you can buy the can of gear that will get rid of the grease very easily and you would never know it was there. I say grease up the socket to be sure and safe. If you want a 24\\7 rig and want to be able to get sleep at night not having to get up and check to see if it is still running then do it safely the first time.

With the GT you do not need to use any form of grease - the seal string is all that is required with you Phase Change setup. This is not the issue.

The CPUs you have a cold-bug plus you have an Expert MB with TCCD, so the combination will be more of a challenge.

You will need to work the Dram Strengths to help the TCCD modules on this MB which will also help you boot. Vdimm will aid in this too, again the Expert requires a bit more over the other MBs.

You can also try to set the Multi CPU registry setting as this boosts the temps of the CPU.

Temp reporting on the Expert is not accurate so -26C Idle is typical but prob. not true. Check your Evap heads based upon what it ran previously to esitmate the CPU temps or use a probe on the IHS.

Also, The CACJE will only clock up to 2.8 on phase which it used to clock up to 2.9 on water. You think the dielectric grease fom not having any is causing this? Thank you, Micah
