[Windows 7] Setting up the GPU client - nVidia - Page 41

i am a little confused about the ati instructions, i have a 4870 and installed gpu2, do i have to add anything to my install such as forcegpu ati_r800 or anything?!

as of now the system tray icon says "attempting to get work packet" and HFM is greyed out at 0%
CCC shows 0 load on my gfx card

I also have an integrated card on my mobo as well, dont know if that is relevant

Great Guide, one question though can't seem to get my GPU client to view in HFM.net V6.2, Worked great for the smt client just not the GPU one.

Which location are you using? It can be in one of two places:

1) C> Program Files (x86)> Folding@Home> Folding@Home-gpu

2) C> Users> [Your User]> AppData> Roaming> Folding@home-gpu

:)

I actually tried both locations, in the smp tutorial it was in the install location, and this tutorial it was in the user folder.

I could see the 3 files it had listed in C> Users> [Your User]> AppData> Roaming> Folding@home-gpu, but it wouldn't detect the client and had unknown for every field. I'll try again when i get home. Also i noted in the install you cannot select location of the install, is there a way to install it on my D drive? instead of my SSD where space is valuable.

Also my CPU was pulling 11000ish a day is that decent for a i5-2500k at 3.8ghz?

Yes:

1) Move the install folder (not the one in AppData> Roaming) to somewhere on the D drive.

2) Create a shortcut from the .exe in that folder to somewhere.

3) Rightclick> Properties the shortcut.

4) At the end of the "Target" field, asdd a space, and then -local

Should work from the D drive from then on,

Is there a way to get this to work with an ATI HD6950?

As of right now it is giving me the GPU is not supported message.

Hmm, I'll add a warning for that in the OP. For the 5/6/7 series GPUs, you'll need to use this guide (both posts):

How do I pause the client? I use TrayIt! for the SMP client, and that does the minimizy thing for the GPU client too. If I just exit out of the client, it starts the WU over again the next time I start it. Oh and, has anyone else had trouble folding with the latest BETA drivers for the GTX 400 series? I was on 295.53, and that fixed my BF3 troubles, but then my GPU would only fold one WU than stop.

Are you using the client in the OP, or the console version (which looks like the SMP client)?
