From a Linux perspective:

Open a command prompt. cd to the .exe's directory and run it from there. You should then be able to see the output of the program and therefore better help you understand why it crashed.

I won't jump to any conclusions...get the output first.

im sorry im stupid... that was way over my head.. how would i go about doing this in windows or is it possible. the game just doesnt crash though, my whole computer freezes up exactly the same way it does if you overclock too much and play a game. lowering my clock speed helps the problem but i dont see why i should go below stock speeds to play the game. it flusters me!!!

I'd relate it to the almost 3Ghz on that 3700+, I had my comp freeze a few times after I OC'd even though it was stable through Prime.

Drop the clock speed of the CPU and see if it's more stable running that game

well, it was stable on prime 95 for 17 hours and some change cuz thats when i stopped it(i cant be without my baby for that long without using her). but i took your advice and put it back to stock. it still froze up just as quickly. BUT.... i put the graphics card at stock AND the cpu at stock and i could run it all day long. EA must be anti overclocking!? bastards.... but really, i can play fear, doom, bf2 , cod2 all day long at 2.94 and overclocked graphics, so what gives? i tried updating the game to v1.3, same thing happened. i wish someone had an answer to this cuz id really like to have stuff overclocked so that i can play the game with all the goodies turned on. by the way thanks for the help gator.

80C really isn't great to be running at, I know they can withstand high temps but prolonged periods of that temp will shorten the life of that chip...you'll still get great performance if you keep it around 2.5-2.6 and it'll drop your temps significantly

I would say keep the clocks lower to save your chip running at 80*C, or invest in a WC setup if you're gonna be running that high, I have pretty much the same setup and NFSMW and BF2 run great even at stock clock speeds...I'm keeping mine stock until I get my WC setup up, cause I dont like 60*C CPU/ 68*C GPU temps I was getting after OC'ing

well my cpu is fine at about 43 idle, but on full load my graphics is somewhere between 70 to 80, usually 75.
edit: oops, my cpu is at 43 load. hehe

that still seems high for load..mine under load is 62-64 and that depends on the ambient temp sometimes lower, right now my idle is 32*C.

I'm suprised you're getting that high a temp on a Big Typhoon too..how much Thermal Paste is on that thing because too much paste won't allow a good transfer of heat
