seeing as you only have one 7800gt i would get the nforce 4 ultra d, and not the sli. that'll save ya some $. Also I would suggest a better psu that 380w one might not work with your whole rig after you get done with it. So thats like $1350......you can either pocket that cash, get a tv tuner or another raptor and run them in raid 0.

umm you're gonna want a bigger HDD... like at least 120GB...
EDIT
And you don't want OCZ + DFI. try switching the mobo or RAM with
this RAM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220009
or this mobo - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131540

Are there problems with running that OCZ ram on that DFI motherboard?

I was thinking about the bigger hard drive but the one I have now is 40 GB and I only use 1/4 of it. But income tax time is coming so the 2nd raptor and another 7800gt are most likely in the future. I am going to get the 550W Antec power supply. As for this TV tuner you speak of... TV on the computer... what is this world coming to. I'll have to look into that. I'll be sure to post some pics when I have it together should be a week or two.

I appreciate the quick responses and the input around here saved tons of time and money. Now I'll just have to wait and see how everything looks when the new AMD's come out. Since they are making them quicker then I get paid, I'm not likely to ever stay on top lol.

I'm not 100% sure on klewiss' post but I do know that DFI works best with GeIL and G.SKILL (TCCD | BH-5:UTT) memory, so my personal suggestion is to get some of these:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231006

what I was really looking for is G.SKILL F1-3200DSU2-1GBFX, but I only found it on ebay, I suggest getting that, its lower on newegg but they aren't carrying it at the moment.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=44938

As far as your powersupply, you want to get a Seasonic 600W:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817151025

You also say you only use 1/4 of your 40GB, so why not use your current 40GB for storage and buy a 36GB Raptor and save about $50?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822144200

Now if you want to spend say.... A half hour a day configuring bios options for maybe 2-3 days, then for the same price you can get a DFI SLI-DR Expert:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136166

It is a feature rich board and is very well designed also there is no sli jumpers all you do is snap in the 2nd card (when/if you get one) and it will automatically run it. But this is a very good board and why not get a better product for less than a worse product that costs more.

Yes, there are problems running OCZ VX with a DFI. (cold boot bug) You're better off to not mix those two or you're open to a new set of headaches. Your build looks good, but you can save some money by looking around. Just to start you off, here's the cpu and X-Fi for cheaper...

http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...ctCode=80719-5

http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusearch...=done&nextloc=

I've ordered from both places and the service was great.
Edit: Btw, even though Antec makes good power supplies, you might want to look at the Sunbeam Nuuo 550W since they're the same price.

Yea, I also ordered my CPU (3000+) from mwave, and my heatsink from zipzoomfly.

The NUUO is great, cheap and reliable.

hey, it looks like you've got a pretty good system going there... I do have a few suggestions though.

cpu - looks good, you might also want to think about the opty 146 or 148

mobo - go for the expert board, it will oc better and is compatable w/ more RAM and it costs about the same. I ordered mine from newegg on sun for 195 shipped

RAM - OCZ is good ram, but you'd be better off going w/ ocz platinum... dfi boards don't typically like the gold vx series... plus the platinum is better for overclocking. platinum rev. 2 would be a good match.

gfx card - good choice, evga has one of the best warranties

psu - get a sunbeam nuuo. it's cheaper and better than the antec you chose... if you want best then go w/ what I have... seasonic s12-600

case - your choice, but looks good

cpu cooler - can't get better air cooling

hard drive - get a couple seagate 80gb sata drives. put them in a RAID 0 config and they'll be faster than a single raptor and cheaper. you can get SATA150mb/s drives for about 60 each from newegg and the 300gb/s version isn't much more. but, I run 2 of the sata 1 drives in RAID and we did some benchmarks a while back and my RAID setup beat out a single Raptor and raid 0 rapters weren't much faster than my setup.

sound card - looks good
