yup, it's all the rage!

i really hope this doesn't kill chances of the FT86 happening in the US. I want to drive that car--poor man's LFA.

i wonder if any of these problems come occur with their Scion cars...maybe it is all psychological that people think it's literally a "Toyota" problem.

I don't overclock my monitor or speakers either, but there's a section for them too.

Why isn't anyone happy about this? Perhaps our awful car companies here in UHMERICA can make some sort of a comeback.

He probably will get away with it, unfortunately. If Toyota goes around blaming people for lying about their pedals sticking, it'll cause an uproar. The only way such an investigation would happen is through the police, and Toyota would probably even have the police make the announcement of their findings. In other words, Toyota would want to get as far from the pointing fingers side of things as possible.

this is from what i've heard, don't quote me:

The toyotas use a completely electronic system to run the vehicle, actually most cars do, take my 08 Caravan for example, the key has no teeth, there are no tumblers, completely electronic ignition, and i know this is the case because the computer locked up in the car, and the engine was dead, so to fix it i had to disconnect the battery and restart the car.

Now the gear shifter on automatic transmissions (on new front wheel drive cars at least) is fully automated, the Prius doesn't have gears as far as i know, it uses an automated CVT (so no nuetral, would work like a snowmobile, yes i snowmobile too, i know what a run a way feels like)

The throttle is electronic too, it controls the fuel injection, so if the computer died while the car was going.

1) no ignition control
2) no gearing control
3) no throttle control
4) possibly no brakes depending on the system (if brakes are electronic too)

at which point, logic would say pull the e-brake, but i guess not.

So this is cased by the fact that the computer failed, reason unknown, be it hardware (think xbox 360 people) or software (think BSOD or something)

That's just from what i've heard, again, don't quote me

There is no way an "e-brake" (which is actually a parking brake) is going to stop a car under full throttle, even a weaksauce Prius. Try it next time you're driving and see what happens. You'll cook the brakes long before your speed drops significantly, if it drops at all.

And this is why I don't want a newer car.... I used to envy the newness and niceness of modern fleets, but dang, electronic everything scares me now. I don't want to rely on anything electronic (well, you know what I mean) for the acceleration, braking, transmission, or engine on/off of my car.
