According to those tests, cars without a ton of horsepower and nose weight seem to do fine even stopping from 100 MPH with WOT.

I do believe their sales have been hurting though. Otherwise you wouldn't be seeing the deals they're currently running.
Ah, didn't catch that, thanks. The Toyota drivers must just be incapable of stomping on the brakes like they should then. Probably used to putting 2 lbs of pressure on it to stop normally, and "stomping on it" is 4lbs.

After reading more into the Toyota sales, it looks likes sales dipped in February, but rose 40% year on year for the first 10 days of March after they introduced the sales.

LOL afraid the car might flip when shifted into neutral? That does a lot for his credibility...

I think that most vehicle's stock brakes (some sports cars excluded) would overheat before they effectively stopped a car at WOT already going a high speed (say 80mph). It generates a LOT more heat slowing from 80mph to 60mph vs 20mph to 0mph. When you add the WOT factor in, it's as if your car is trying to slow down from a very high rate of speed while going down a road that is sloped steeper than any that already exist. I can see why your typical mommy-car's brakes would fail under the given situation. If I wasn't afraid of warping rotors, I'd try it on mine to see what would happen.

The funny part is, apparently Toyota's sales haven't been hurt at all, according to a news article I read today.
Oh, their sales are hurting, and will continue to hurt.

Anyone who tells you otherwise without proof is working for Toyota, or has stock in them.

Another thing I highly appreciate the fact that it turned out that I know nothing where all i stated was how I could not believe no one had mentioned it... Oh and also the Article states the cop cruiser used a loud speaker and had him use both his E-Brake and Regular brake together and that slowed him enough to turn the car off....

Also where did i state that it would bring him to a complete stop I also never said that.

That would be one reason... Now a bit different scenario but i have pulled the E-Brake in a vehicle going 70Km/h before and guess what it came to a stop pretty damn fast... Also i operate heavy Forklifts and they use a dead man pedal which does the same thing as the "Parking brake" now driving a forklift at 40mph and stopping withing 50m is something else as your stopping a 8000 pound unit but hey no worries I just know nothing.

The incident appears to be a hoax. The driver was looking a way to get quick cash.

WTH, What is with all the Emergency brake is just parking brake and it can't even stop a non accelerating car crap?

Come on I know some of you saying that drive a car right? Have been to defensive driving courses and what not right?

I have driven cars hundreds of miles before relying on nothing more than the e-brake for my braking.

I'll admit the pedal style is a ***** especially the pressure release ones now but even then if you know how to use them they do their job.

I can't believe people don't know how to use an E-Brake.

Using the parking brake to slow the car down is a very good way to lock the rear tires up and spin. You'll slow down a lot if you hit something after you lose control.

Its purpose isn't to stop the car...at all. Downshifting slows me down faster than the park brake does in my Accord.
