according to this, when toyota inspected the vehicle they noticed the brake pads were nearly gone. The CHP smelled the burning brakes.

Toyota said when they tested they couldn't replicate the issue because the car would shut off when both pedals were pushed. Now how can you explain worn pads if the safety feature worked? If he was faking it would be basically impossible to wear all the brakes down if the car worked like it should have. It seems to me toyota shot themselves in the foot.

That proves there was a problem with the electronics, which is what I and a few others have been saying all along. There's simply no other explanation on why the brakes would be in that condition if the override worked correctly.

I think the majority of you who believe are crazy. This is a conspiracy by a bunch of retarded Americans who think that they can influence government policy by "faking" and "overreacting" to every little thing that happens in a toyota. Want to know the real motive out of these "scams" are? They want a new car. They want to get out of there current situation and get a new car out of the deal.

Is that big enough to catch your attention now? Explain how the brake pads were worn like that if there was no problem with anything.

Excessive driving? Maybe the night before he did a few 60-0 stops. Sorry not convinced.

LOL several hard 60-0 stops will not wear a set of pads to nothing. Then again, why did the officer say he smelled the brakes burning? I've been around enough race cars to know what burning brakes smell like, you can't really mistake it for anything else.

I suppose the pads could have been worn to nothing already, so I want to see a picture of the brake rotors themselves. That would settle it one way or the other depending on what they look like.
