Vista and dual cores

Thread Starter
Anyone have vista OS and a dualcore chip, if so, can you compair XP to vista in terms of proformance and over all "feel". I heard XP is buggy with dual cores and a I need an OS, (see my system stats below), would it be better to run XP as an OS, or a beta of vista?

I wouldn't touch Vista with a 10 ft pole.

If it is your one and only system, run XP for now.

Edit:
The only real issues with multi-cores that I have seen are with ACPI and power management on laptops and some AMD issues when manually setting affinity.
Both have a fix though.

XP works fine with multicore and hyperthreading chips. If anything, Vista is the OS thats having problems.

Does Win x64 Pro have more optimizations for dual core as well as 64-bit? Or is it just solely an upgrade to 64-bit?

be careful if you going to be using x64. Do your research and make sure all of your systems components have 64 bit drivers available. I made that mistake, and now my Belkin n52 is just a paper weight for now .

I've already got it up and running. I was just wondering if they did some work with dual-threading on x64. I don't personally have a dual-core processor, so I can't do any tests.
