Problems getting into "found" folders

Ok heres the deal. I backed up some folders into a Maxtor HDD from a Western Digital HDD before I did a format. After the computer restarted, it said that the Maxtor had to check for consistancy. After it was done, the files I had backed up disappeared. After getting an SNES emulator, it noticed 4 folders called "found 000", "found 001", "found 002" and "found 003." I tried all I could to get to the folders by choosing the "view all hidden folders" option with no avail. It seems that only my emulator can see them but I cant copy any of the data from the emulator. I found out that those files are CHKDSK files and that it has all the data that I backed up. I would really like to recover that data, so how can I get into files that I cannot see normally?
