honestly I dont think 1000$ is worth 2 more cores. Why not just get the Dual Xeon socket EVGA board? Then you will have 8 cores!

Well, if I get a hex I'll be getting one of the xeon offerings (a 'just in case' measure so I'm not boned if decide to go dually in the near future). Still waiting to see some specific info on those. That said, I'm also looking into building a cnc, likelihood is high that the wife will make me 'pick one'.

So, we'll see.

Grats to all the first day'rs though.

why not get the board and put two x5680's on it? Then you'll have 12/24.

Then you need to buy a very, very expensive motherboard, more RAM, and two CPUs that have a dual QPI link, which are also very expensive.

So, in answer to that, why not just get the EVGA board?

Costs a lot more money.

Like a lot more.
