Prime95 error

Thread Starter
I am overclocking my Opteron 146 to 2.6ghz. It runs just fine and Prime 95 gives no errors, but I clock it up 2.7ghz and I get an error, even after I increase the voltage. It is the exact same error while running the heat test. It happens within the first 5 tests.

FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.

I am wondering if my RAM would cause this? As you can see I don't have the best RAM and I am not OCing it.

Have you run memtest to test your ram? And are you at least running the 2T setting? What speed is your ram running at when you bump up to 2.7? Also, have you upped the voltage to your ram. You might have to ditch the pc2100. You'll probably get better system performance without that slowing down your system memory speeds.

Well I took out the PC2100 and one other RAM and I ran Memtest. I got the blue screen of death.

Out of curiosity, why are you running 3x PC2700 and 1x PC2100 RAM? Your OC would be a lot more stable if you run 2 sticks of PC3200.

If your system seemed a little bit more stable before, i would put the ram back in and retest, but it seems as if your ram is definitely your problem. What speed was your ram running when you tested it?

just run a huge divider, then see if you can run prime95 again, if not, then you're stuck at 2.6GHz

increase the vdimm to around 2.8-2.9, that can help with stability. another thing that could cause problems is if your PCI/PCI-e speeds arent locked. check those out too.
