Force Air Cooling - Page 3

The outer box is made, its is 20mm thick clear perspex which I gotta say weighs a f00kin ton! but I suppose once the fans arrive and get stuck in the heavier the better lol

I will answer some of the questions above while I am here though. ok someone mentioned removing the inner frame of the tower, I havent for a couple of bug bearing reasons the first being vibration, giving that I aint a scientist I dont know what effect 4 syncronised rotating fans @ 15000rpm (ordered 13000rpm, £50 cheaper ;-) ) will have on my components, the outer case is heavy and solid but even still I cant imagine it being any good although I am sure my bird will appreciate it ;-)

second being that I cannot be bothered building racks and mounts for all the gear when someone else has done it for me, besides the frame it self will be streamlined to a point where it wont effect the air passing between it, all unused pieces of metal etc will be cut away.

On the upside :-) I have figured an even better way of adding additional cooling, the heatsink (which haven't made yet :-( ) will be filled with a substance called fridgel which is used to keep food cold while importing over seas, I have it on good assurance that this gel yucky stuff keeps at temps of 0-5*c for up to 8 weeks, then you stick it back in the freezer for 2 hours and your off again but mine will have a near constant cold air chilling it and my pc :-). Now before anyone says it "what about condensation" here is the best part fridgel doesn't produce any, dont know how dont know why it just doesn't because apparently damp food doesn't sell very well??? anyway hope this helps

dam this i really want to see...and post plenty of pics when your done, and o hope you get your air circulation problem sorted out........also isnt that going to be one loud mother of a case..fans at 13000 rpm arnt going to be the quietest.

The fans are designed for extraction in apartments, they r 13000rpm cos i have also got fan controllers to boost the power, The company I work for makes the total fitness centre's (electrical side) so i have access to quite a catalog of bits

If you notice the front fans of my design are coned which does dampen the sound a bit and with the perspex being so thick it absorbs the lower end of the scale, tbh it isn't as loud as i thought it would be, if your playing games with headphones or speakers you wouldn't notice, part of the air circulation problem i have is a deflection on the rear perspex which seperates the two fans (bit in the middle) it creates abit of a whooshing noise if you know what I mean I thought of putting a triangle shape there to split the air and redirect it out the back but the frame of the case would get in the way which leaves the only option of removing the frame and building perspex mounts for the mobo etc....... Problem with that is I would have to design to minimise resistance otherwise it would be aerodynamic enough for the idea to work

Leave it with me I will have a play and post the results

I have also begun designing a submerged rig with the tank/case split into 2 chambers, 1 for the components and the other full of heatsinks and cooling with underwater fans (haven't found any yet) which circulates the water through the cooling chamber and back out into the main chamber, once again i have done this on cad and have scale drawings but i cant post them till i get back in work on monday...............If anyone would like to help me with this i want a non-conductive coolant, something like fluid XP which will not lose its coherance with extensive use............

Cheers

Its nothing calculative mate tbh I have winged it this far, the problem its the back of the case is flat and the intersection between the 2 rear fans (design pics couple of pages back......) is not very aerodynamic so whe the air comes through the front instead of traveling in an near straight line (like a wind tunnel) and going out the back as i thought it would it is deflecting breaking the air flow.....if that makes sense

See what part i mean?

Remember this is just empty box stage I got work the components round this aswell............

Haha, I read circulation as "calculation". Dont mind me

Good luck with the wind tunnel (home of the hovering heatsink)

Make the back 1/4 of the case curved, or just the corners maybe?

Synthetic (0 W 30) motor oil would do the job...
