Well, had to reinstall the client unfortunately after I started getting some inexplicable errors. Fortunately though, it seems to have preserved the work that had been done up tot that point.

Ok, I think I'm finally back up and running now. Over the last week and a half I've changed operating systems about five times and couldn't get folding to work on any of them, for some reason. But I went back to XP this morning to try it out with folding and it appears that it is working, so I'm going to stick with it and explore VMWare again. I've got about 3% done so far, so the 1% error seems to be gone. Again, sorry for the lack of folding over the course of a couple weeks.

We'll, it seems I spoke too soon. After 7%, I got a core error and lost the work unit. I will keep trying to get this to work but it's frustrating.

Hell you are really going through some grief. You've replaced the OS, client, all else is the same except for the new RAM. Are you certain your RAM isn't causing the problem? If you still have them - pop in the old RAM and crank up the client. See if it behaves itself.

I've been running on 2gb now for about a week. I am using the old stuff and it is still unstable. I left the folding client running in XP and I'll see what the progress is when I get home tonight. Next step is to try VMWare again and see.

I do have a PS3 coming to me now, so if all else fails, I'll fold with that 24/7 until I can upgrade. They will probably turn out the same amount per month.

Well, I was at 21% and the website is having trouble. I didn't know it until I had deleted the work unit and uninstalled/reinstalled the client. This is a good sign, as it seems it was stable until Stanford's site messed up. I'll keep trying...

I on the other hand have been unable to submit anything these last days due to my PC being without a connection to the 'net (posting from a laptop). This state of affairs is likely to last for at least a week unfortunately :\\

In the meantime, I'll just carry on playing lots of Oblivion.

Hopefully you're back up and running soon.

I just had another frustrating day with SMP. I am currently running two text-only consoles instead of the SMP just to get some work done for the month. I have a PS3 coming later this week, so I'll switch to that until I am up and folding again. I'll use the better of the two for the team and the other one for OCN.

Ok, so I was folding with the two console versions, but when two finished, they didn't register any points. Then, several hours later, one of them registered, I think.

So it looks like I finished 3 work units and got credit for 1, but I think I only finished 2 and am still not receiving credit for 1. I might just take apart the computer and reassemble it just to make sure the connections are all correct and that the ram issue has disappeared.

And all this started when Stanford updated their SMP client and is currently having trouble with their PS3 client.

Damn, tough going for the team at the moment then it would seem.
