I'm attempting to get my Phenom II x2 550 Black Edition's other cores unlocked, using ASUS' 'Unleashing mode' or 'core unlocker', but whenever I unlock them the BIOS says i've got a x4 B50, but windows (7 home Premium 64bit) refuses to start, just reboots and asks me to go into repair mode, which also fails to start... I've now disabled the cores again, so i can research this. Do I need another driver or something?

I'm new to overclocking, i haven't moved anything from 'auto' in the BIOS, I just pressed '4' like it said in the POST screen... Any ideas?

try one core at a time to see if one, or both, the locked cores are bad. on mine. core #4 could not unlock from stock clocks. core #3 unlocks, but cant do 4.0ghz, only 3.9. the good cores, #1&2, can do 4ghz. so im running 3.9 x3 atm

Sorry, I probably sound like a complete dunce , but how would I do that. Is it something to do with the 'Advanced Clock Calibration' (which I've currently got at 0%), or is it something more complicated...?

I can't get my cores to unlock. For some reason if I enable the core unlocker I can't even boot into windows with 1 or 2 cores enabled (i.e. core 0,1 enabled, 2,3 disabled). I've phoned ASUS and they have no idea what is happening.

Things I've tried:
  • Upping VCORE voltages
  • Upping NB/CPU Voltage
  • Lowering HT to 1600MHz
  • Tried different combinations of 1, 2, 3, 4 core enabled
  • Running stock settings
  • Disabling C1E and CnQ

Any ideas?! System being unlocked in sig rig.

With mine i can get it to boot and log on, and get onto internet, but it's really slow and then my system crashes. I've set the advanced clock calibration to 0%.
