You can buy a toy train transformer (110v to ~16v) for about $12. A used one might be even cheaper. What are you going to do with all the hydrogen and oxygen atoms that you'll have floating around if your experiment works? Good luck and try not to create a nuclear explosion!

I need much more than 16v... i need atleast 50. and i will take a shot or two of pure oxygen... cuz its like friggen drugs! and i can light the hydrogen on fire(hindenberg) or put it in balloons and float them away.. but not hit power lines(hindenberg) lol

Why not use four 12 volt automotive batteries? You can hook them up in series (+ to -) so that you have one big electrical loop. You will get about 50volts out of this set-up and you won't have to convert because the batteries are DC. Don't forget, it's not the voltage that will kill you, it's the amperage.

Yeah, i know. I need to convert house electricity... and i need large amouts of high vol;tage but i dont need mager amps.

You need to get a step down transformer with a voltage rectifier built in.

At the very simplest, you can use a diode but that will give you a very choppy DC current. Be sure the diode can handle the voltage and current.

The oxygen comes of the posative side and the hydrogen off the negative one, so they are already seperate.
