The people with bitspower compression fittings, how do you tighten them (the barb)? Finger tight? Use some kind of tool?

thanks

I did mine as tight as I could by hand. Seems to work perfectly. I believe if you get ambitious and start cranking on it with some pliers, you could crush the tube and ruin the seal.

Hand tightening is fine. When i mocked up my system, i actually high tighten and tugged on the tubing to make sure it was snug and not going anywhere.

Cheers for the replies

Sounds like your both talking about the actually fitting that compresses the tubing. I meant the actual barb tightening onto for example the water block.

It still applies. I only hand-tightened both of my loops.

Personally, I tighten as much as possible by hand and then follow up with pliers until I encounter wee bit of resistance. You need to get the feel for this because you do not want to crush the O-ring(s). However, the snugger the fit the better obviously and the less likely you are to spring any kind of leak at the thread.

Any advice on tightening compression fittings in difficult-to-reach places? I ordered a small pair of pliers but honestly not sure how much its gonna help. rolleyes.gif

I just picked up some monsoon fittings. Hope they will be easier to tighten in small spaces.

When I connect a fitting to a block I use Teflon tape and tighten just beyond finger tight using a wrench. On the tubing, as tight as you can get with your fingers is fine. Just remember to check the fittings after the system runs for a week or two as the tubing will settle and you will find that you can tighten the fittings a little more with your finger.

In some situations I have attached the tubing to the fitting before installing the equipment. My res/rad bend is pretty tight.
