BIOS upgrade for Soyo MB

Thread Starter
I am using a SOYO SY-P4I 845PE. I would like to update the bios, but not sure which update to use. My Lavalys program tells me my board is a 845PE(lite), but the box it came in and all the info included tells me it's a 845PE V1.0 due to the fact that it's 800Mhz ready. The bios version is 2AA1 which is also the update for the Lite board and for V1.0 it would be 2AA3 from Soyo web site. Can someone tell me which one to use or does it really not matter?

Welcome to the forums.

I would check the physical board for markings related to the version. Generally there's either a sticker with model and serial number or at least some printing right on the board itself. I'm not familiar with that board, but it's possible that there is little to no difference between the lite and v1.0 other than a more limited BIOS. In general, the BIOS version does matter as an incompatible BIOS can cripple a motherboard.

My suggestion would be to check the mobo itself for info, back up your current BIOS through whichever tool Soyo uses, and then flash to the most appropriate BIOS you can find. At least you'll have the original BIOS saved in case the flash goes awry.

Sorry I haven't replied to your feedback sooner. I do thank you for your response to my ? and I will check my mb for that, also I had forgot to mention that during boot the bios version reads 2AA1, so I guess I should stick with that. Again. thanks for your input, it did help.
