I finally got around to messing with the OC'ing and got my 950 to 4.0ghz. The only problem is its running hot. Realtemp and Coretemp are giving me an average of 45C at idle and while doing a 10min prime95 test it jumps up to 92C! The only settings I changed in bios were the cpu ratio setting which is at 20 and the BCLK is at 200, with vcore at stock. All other settings are on auto. Are there other settings in the bios that would cause high temps during OC'ing that I can change? I'm using an H70 which should keep things cooler than they are right?

Is VCore at stock or auto? If it's on auto, it's probably around 1.45V, which would explain the heat. Set it for 1.35V and try again. If it's still really hot, try reseating your cooler.

Yup it was set on auto around 1.45v. I reset it to 1.35 and it dropped my temps 10C! Sweet! I also had the PCIE frequency at 110 but not sure if that contributed. Should i keep lowering the voltage until it becomes unstable and then raise it a bit?

Are 43C average idle temps normal for the i7's or am I still running a little hot?

I just ran a second test under full load I hit 78C at 4009mhz at 1.30v. Does this seem too hot for that frequency with an H70?

That idle temp seems a bit high. My 920 (which is C0 and sucks up voltage) idles at around 31-33 at 4.0. How if your H70 set up? Mine is push-pull intake I've found that it is about 4-6c cooler that way, but my video cards also toss a ton of hot air around my case.

Maybe reseat the H70 or try reversing the fans. At 1.3 you are below my 1.344 and I go from 32ish to 65ish under load.

What is your VTT at?

Yeah I'm setup for push/pull, pulling in fresh air. I was having some stability issues running at 1.3vcore so I went up to 1.35vcore and all is well. Same temps at full load and during an hour of COD MW2 I was under 70C. I think I'm ok for now on temps. VTT is at 1.387. I might reseat the H70 as I did have some issues installing the pump onto the chip. It didnt catch the clips the first time and I had to mess with it to get it seated.

Are you getting your temps from the bios or using realtemp? I dont think the bios temps are accurate as mine says 30C at idle but Realtemp and coretemp both show higher.

I had a 950 that the cores idled in the 43C - 45C range @ 4.2GHz, under load in the OCCT auto test it was at 76C, your temps are fine.
