The manual and it says that it should be showing a green light with a blinking yellow light to indicate 1 Gbps, instead I always see a orange light with a blinking yellow light to indicate 100 Mbps. I assume this is my problem. I have tried different cables and even different internet locations to no avail. I called Asus and they claim that "an orange light with yellow blinking is their top speed on all their products (i.e. 1 Gbps)". This does not make sense to me as it conflicts with their own manual and the convention of every other motherboard I have used. Can someone look at their R3E and tell me what color their LAN port lights are? Or tell me if this guy is full of crap?
Why don't you just check in Windows? It'll tell you what the negotiation speed is at. If you aren't connecting to a 1gbit-compatible device (router/switch/hub/whatever), you aren't going to negotiate at 1gbit, but more likely rather 100mbit.
On my current motherboard, green is 1gbit, amber 100mbit and nothing 10mbit.
