So does anyone has found out what revision is the newest, rev 1.xx or rev 2.xx

(need a real source like Asus, not a random member on xtremesystems)

Asus has a rep on XS. I can't remember his name though.

Funny thing is if I go into the hdd section in the bios it displays both usb's by the name i had given them and not just removable device. Help?
anyone?

The instant after your post screen is complete, press f8 to get into the boot options, then you can pick your usb stick to boot from and that'll work.

I've done this many times to flash my 5970 from a usb stick on the Rampage III.

Change these settings:
Ai Overclock Tuner - Manual
CPU Ratio Setting - 21.0

Type in the numbers instead of Auto
CPU Voltage - 1.24
QPI/DRAM: 1.21
DRAM BUS: 1.6-1.65 What your memory supports

Then increase BLCK again. If your thermal paste is not evenly applied you may have to reseat your H50. Hopefully your temps will go down. How many fans you have on the H50? Aftermarket fans? Is your pump running at 1400RPM in the BIOS? Check in the Power Management section in the BIOS under fan/hardware monitoring.

Changing the volts higher means you want to go higher than what the stock settings will allow.
Your only looking to get the max out of stock settings. If that's 3.2-3.8, it's all you need right.
Okay did what you said. OC'ed to 3.3, and my highest temp so far has been 69 after Prime and Folding for a bit. Still seems high

My H50 has 2 Scythe GT's in a push pull. It's the stock thermal paste. When i was installing the cooler, I didn't use the star pattern simply because I forgot to do that. But I did go clockwise tightening the screws. I didn't fully tighten them down though. Just tightened them a little each time so one side wouldn't have too much pressure. Until the screws were fully tightened. After I had been running my system for about 2 weeks, I opened up my case and re-tightened the screws in a star pattern this time. So I'm pretty sure the H50 has good contact with the chip.

Did I get a bad chip?

I've never seen a chip that bad. You either got the worst chip ever or you need to get some new TIM.

You should have tightened it all the way from the beginning.
If you hadn't there might be a bit of air bubbles now which might cause the high temps.

Re-seat the cooler and re-apply the TIM (and clean the cpu/heatsink before ofc).

I did tighten them all the way the first time. I only tightened them the second time is because things probably shifted with the heat to I wanted to make sure that it had proper contact. When I initially installed the cooler, the screws were tight as they could be.

Hi, I am still reading this long thread to make sure if there is any info on my issue, but hopefully some of you can help?

I am building my first rig with the rampage III and I am a bit puzzled about the power connections on the board.

To start with I am setting things up with just 2 GPU's (SLI) no overclocking required to start with, 12 Gb RAM, one HDD, one SDD and one optical drive. Which of all the power connections on the board should I use??

In principle I am thinking of hooking my power supply with the 24 ATX and only one of the two 8 pin ATX conenctions. I would ignore the second 8 pin ATX. Not sure if this is the right thing as the manual suggest that I may need both, or otherwise the system will not boot (?), page 2-46 of the manual.

I would also ignore the two 4 pin molex connections (EZ_PLUG's) as according to what I have read this is only needed if you have more than 2 GPU's.

Would this be ok? or do I need to hook up my power supply with both 8 pin ATX connections?

Also, if I only need one 8 pin ATX should I use one of the two available or should I split 4 in each?

Not sure if my question makes any sense, but any help in how to set up power supply to the board would be much appreciated!
