Are you running Intel Core i7 920 D0-Stepping (SLBEJ) or the C0 stepping?
The later will need more Voltage to run at this speed.

Good luck OC'ing and post back your updated results when you're stable!

Acid this is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thanks!

EDIT: My chip is the D0. I am trying this now.

Ok, I tried it but it would not post. For the LLC I have it at 50%, there is not an option to simply put it at (enabled).

I also do not see this option (extreme phase full power mode).

At this point, I would recommend no one purchase the RIIIE until I find closure on the issue I've been researching.

With this board, as soon as the QPI goes over 4GHz, it ceases to perform. Everything that relies on graphics slows and can sometimes result in a crash because the display driver gets so confused. QPI goes over 4GHz at 223 BCLK.

Here's a graph I made to demonstrate my results:

This is not just me, either. Leeghoofd at Xtreme Systems was able to replicate this issue with his 920, 950, and 970.

We're currently talking to Asus trying to sort this out. As it's happening for both of us right at 4.0GHz QPI, there's a chance it might be a BIOS issue. I'll be sure to update this thread when I figure it out.

I misplaced my motherboard box and it has the serial number on it. Is there a serial number on the motherboard itself?

Thanks.
Got the motherboard in today. It only had 2 screws on the NB. I went ahead and replaced the stock TIM on the chipset with OCZ Freeze. Both the NB and the SB seem to be idling in the 50's. The highest they get during one pass (~5mins) of LinX is 60 and 59C respectively. I Don't have the optional chipset fan on there.

Is this about what you guys are getting?

Incorrect, it's called full calibration.

Modern D0 chips are really not liking 21x. Try 19x, thats what I'm basically forced to use on my modern D0 i7 930.

Hey all, I'm not a stranger to overclocking, however I feel out of my element with the latest equipment and looking around the internet for any solid information is fragmented at best when threads run off on a tangent. So I'm pleading with anyone sympathetic enough to help me with Overclocking My new Rampage III + 980x processor. My current bios is 0901 (the latest) and the memory I am running is Corsair Dominator GT 6GB CMT6GX3M3A1600C7 (X.M.P.). I'm not interested in getting carried away as I like moderate overclocking. In this case I would like to OC from stock 3.33 GHz to 3.87. I've been able to do that the simply way by means of the multiplier, but it's not settling with me. I'm curious about doing this leaving the multiplier alone and using BLCK. Unfortunately finding a good template with any understanding has been difficult. I'm uncertain about the voltages required and what not. Can anyone provide the basis of a template that I can follow and test? I also need some understading of the items why Auto, disabled, or enabled. So many people have different thoughts and I usually weed through them until I find what fits me. So please chime in as you care to.
Help ME Please!!!! I'll be glad to post results for anyone else after I can get this down. Thank you.

Yeah I get the same temps, with both my video cards insalled too.

Do you have anything to back this up other than your chip? I've never heard nor experienced this.
