For such a low budget, you have to go with combo's...so meh...

AMD Athlon X2 240 CPU
ASUS M4A785-M Motherboard
ASUS ENGT220/DI/1GD2(LP)
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ - Retail RAM
Seagate ST3750528AS 750GB HDD
ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2
--- $293.

Cooler Master Elite 335 RC Case --- $50.

CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX 400W PSU --- $45.

Total cost: $388.

Should run WoW, just on very low settings I guess. :/

EDIT: I'm the only one who managed to fit in a HSF in the $400 build. Come on guys, get into the spirit of things, this is Overclock.net after all. xD

An aftermarket HSF is sort of useless for the needs of this build. AMD makes great stock HSFs anyway (and silent). Either way, that Newegg combo is pretty good.

I think that is probably the best combo I have seen posted. The PII's are very capable CPU's, so it will last her quite a while. The GPU is essentially a 8800GS, so it will run it fine. Not to mention you can upgrade later for a small amount.

Also, YGPM.

The OS license alone makes firestorm's system more valuable.

Firestorm's pc is a great deal, plus if you're really strapped and need a monitor, you can get a 4:3 crt off Craigslist for like $10 for 20". Sometimes people literally give them away on Craigslist, I got a 17" off a guy for free, just cuz...it was free.. They're still big and hi-res.

You could get one of those refurb machines for less that $150 bucks from factorydirect or something. add a ati 4670, even that should run WOW okay. They come with xp coa, just dl and burn an oem xp disc, install and use the serial. That's not even illegal unless you use a serial you don't own.

I was just joking around (Though you can get an okay-ish OC from that HSF, even though it isn't that good) >.>

However, like what the other guys said, tell your friend to go for Firestorm's offer. For 450 bucks, it's a steal.

(P.S. What is the PSU brand fire?)
