Metro 2033 DX9 vs DX11 (with and without Tessellationn and ADOF) - Page 4

Pictures up No difference between the DX11 counterparts that got around 10-15 FPS less.

Edit: Here's some more, this should be all I have to do to show that there's really no benefit in this title with DX11. Here's hoping that future games will do something right.

DX11:

DX9:

DX11:

DX9:

My poor poor framerate. This is all with my card OC'd, too

There's still no difference at all...

So much for DX11

On the other hand... DX9 looks SMOKIN'! And wall textures look sharper on DX9 as well.

The DX11 implementation in this game is absolutely pitiful. They just stuck it on so they could put DX11 on the retail box.

It's stupid crap like this that gave DX10 a bad name... looks like the devs are still up to the same old antics.

Either that or they really made it un-optimized until the Fermi release, which at that point they'll release a patch to make it run much better on the new cards

Either way, the DX11 does nothing in this game. Enabled, frames take a hit. Disabled, looks the same as enabled but with much higher frames

That's the case for DX11. Other than Unigen Heaven Benchmark and a few developer demonstrations there is no need to rush out and purchase a DirectX11 video card. The differences are negligible and infact DirectX 11 has a negative side effect and that is a massive performance hit for little to no difference at all.

Here's a close up of a face...

DX11, Max settings, 16xAF, 4xMSAA, Tessellation ON, Advanced Depth of Field ON

Same as above but with Tessellation and DOF OFF

His beard actually looks less clear in the one with tessellation and DOF turned on. I mean, if someone can point out something that I'm missing to warrant these drops in FPS, then please be my guest...

Another scene. DX11, maxed, Tessellation and DOF ON. Ignore the color hues, there's a damn annoying light above them that flickers different colors.

Same as above with TL and DOF OFF

Note the bag at the man with the helmet's feet. In the picture with TL and DOF on, the straps seem to disappear into the bag. With these features turned off, the straps reappear. Actually, after toggling between those two pictures for about 10 minutes, I notice a SLIGHT and I mean SLIGHT bulge from the bag with TL and DOF on. Is this what DX11 is supposed to offer? A ~70% drop in frames to make his bag fat?

You be the judge, I may just be seeing things
There is a difference if you look his shoulders look a little rounder with DX11 and it has better lighting.
