However the hard drive that is in the laptop now isn't recognized by the Bios, the hard drive looks fine, my guess is that something came loose off the MOBO, can anyone help??

There is an adapter that goes between the hard drive and the socket in the mobo. If you remove the hard drive that is in the laptop, take a good look and see if that adapter is there. It will fit very tight over the pins of the hard drive and the side that fits into the socket in the mobo will be a single row of male connectors. If that adapter is there, the drive is probably bad. I would suggest purchasing a new hard drive cage, this comes with a new adapter. Then a new 7200rpm hard drive will complete the upgrade. The new design hard drives have a 3yr warranty. They are so much better quality than the original laptop drives, it's like daylight and dark.
