It's great to see Mushkin support actively reaching out to the enthusiast community!

Loving the DDR3 redline series. I would however, recommend limiting the height and width of the heatspreaders for the future. The eVCI design in particular could be troublesome at times.

I have some new parts on the way for a new gaming build I'm putting together. I was wondering with an i5-760 and the Asus P7P55D-E Pro, and the mushkin 996805 set, what would the bios settings be to run them at their rated speed? and would I have to overclock to run them at 1600?

Thanks

Yeah you will have to get the BCLK to 160.

You can set the XMP if you don't want to overclock.
Ai Overclock Tuner: XMP

or manually,

Ai Overclock Tuner: Manual
CPU Ratio Setting: 18
BCLK Frequency: 160
DRAM Frequency: 1600MHz
DRAM Timing Control>
DRAM CAS# Latency: 6
DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay: 8
DRAM RAS# PRE Time: 6
DRAM RAS# ACT Time: 24
DRAM Timing Mode: 1N

IMC Voltage: 1.2V-1.25V
DRAM Voltage: 1.60V - 1.65V

Hi MushkinSean and welcome to OCN. I plan on building a system using MSI's 790FX-GD70 along w/my sig CPU AMD Ph II X4 955 (C3) which I believe can be a decent overclocker according to this DDR2 Validation and I have recently been recommended a few different sets of ram. One of which is the Redline 996805. Is there a cheaper kit like the Blackline that you would recommend over the more expensive Redlines or would the redlines be the best bet.

Thanks for the info Sean,

My next question, I've dabbled a little bit with overclocking with my last setup, but I'm really still quite green when it comes to overclocking. When I set my bios settings up to what you listed it turns off turbo, is there any way I can re-enable turbo with those settings? I have tried enabling EIST again but the turbo option still doesn't come back up.

Thanks

If you want to go with a less expensive kit, the 996782 kit works well with AM3. I still like the Redlines better for their lower timings, but the 996782 kit is a close second.

Most don't use the Turbo when overclocking, if you want it to work you need to set the CPU Ratio Setting to auto.
