Mushkin Enhanced Support - Page 24

Mushkin Sean,

I am running 2 Sets of the 998826 DD3 1600 in my EVGA SR-2.

EVGA recomends that I set the memory timings manually, what should I set them at?

6-8-6-24?

I installed my new ram, a few weeks ago; then a few days ago I moved the ram to a new computer. Not all the channels were registering and so I took out all the ram and found that one of the pins was damaged. !! Am I allowed to RMA? The ram didn't arrive broken, but I would think that it should be able to stand one unplugging. Thanks!

Make sure that piece that broke is not stuck or loose in the DIMM slot.

Is that corrosion or a burn mark from sparking?

I have no idea how it happened. The only thing I can think of is that the fit for ram in my MB is really tight and requires a bit more force than typical motherboards. I always disconnect the power before doing anything in the case so I don't think that it is a spark.

I'm at work right now so I can't take another look at the stick, but I believe that there is actually a piece of the connector missing. I'll try and get another picture up tomorrow.

I'll start an RMA; to be honest I'm not sure what the problem was here, I'm sort of confused why it happened.

Looking to upgrade my rig in sig with 12GB of RAM for gaming and video editing. For the record, I overclock my i7 930 to 4.1GHz. With that said, would 6 2GB sticks or 3 4GB sticks be better, and what model should I get?

I was looking at the 998798 model. Any pricing for these?

Definitely check out the DIMM sockets on BOTH the motherboards. See if there is a piece that came loose or damage to the connectors in the slot.
Ouch!
