I'm at work right now so I can't take another look at the stick, but I believe that there is actually a piece of the connector missing. I'll try and get another picture up tomorrow.

I'll start an RMA; to be honest I'm not sure what the problem was here, I'm sort of confused why it happened.
Looking at the picture it doesn't appear to be burnt, I would think if it was arcing that the pins on either side would have been damaged as well.

I was looking at the 998798 model. Any pricing for these?
The 998798 sticks are all gone, the only 4GB sticks we have atm is the 998770
Should be some more 4GB sticks shortly, every time we introduce a 4GB stick it sells out crazy fast.

3 sticks is always easier on the system than 6.

If you can't wait then get 2 kits of the 998679 kit or the Redlines

Your going to do better in the end though, as you got a rebate and free shipping.
If you ordered from the Mushkin website you would have to pay shipping.

Hey Sean, what are recommended settings to tight the timing on the ridgeback models? Do you guys have any templates for voltage/speed ratios to tighten timings?

Sean, sorry for all the questions. Are there any reviews that you know of for the 996744 kit? I've been doing a lot of playing around with timings, and if nobody has written anything about OCing and this kit I'd love to record my data and put it up here, on OCN. I got this kit down to 6-6-5-15 @ 1333MHz at 1.5V tonight. To me, that's absolutely amazing.

That is definitely impressive. Since you're on AMD, you can push much more voltage safely than you'd be able to with Intel. Try to get 5-5-5 15! It shouldn't take much more.

There is a review here on the Ridgeback's, maybe that will give you some timing ideas

I'm definitely going to try. At the moment I'm sticking with stock voltages and seeing how low I can go at each frequency. I have gone as high as 1.6V to try to get 5-6-5 or 6-5-5 and both times I got the "Overclocking failed!" screen. I still am not entirely sure just how high I can push the voltage so I'm leaving that part for later until I research that.

Nice to see some more Hardware Reps at OCN. I was strongly considering a Mushkin kit with this build, but had to go with Corsair because of price. Next upgrade will definitely involve Mushkin if I can, though.

Late welcome to OCN.

But Corsair wants your first born to pay for memory!

Mushkin covers all levels. Their prices might be higher than, say OCZ, but that's because their quality is generally better, not to mention support. They also have memory across tons of price ranges. But really, though, their best memory is very fairly priced. Can't say the same for Corsair.

With that said, I wouldn't mind a set of GTX2's, but those are gone (and were $250 a stick).
