Generally they will do CL6 @ 1600+ at 1.65V, which is within warranty for the 996825 kit.

Alright thanks both of you. I think I'll get the 996825 kit then.

They seem like a great price but I am still learning about CAS, latency and timings. the 10-10 seem a bit high but it looks like they are a good deal. Any help would be appreciated.
It's a good kit for people who are going to keep their system near default levels. They will overclock some, but not like our Redlines or Ridgebacks.

What mobo/CPU do you have?
Do you plan on overclocking?

I love Mushkin! My first ever computer build that I still have has mushkin ram, 512MB DDR2 I think on Socket A motherboard haha. My friend touched the ram without the heatsink on it while the computer was on and it sparked and reset the computer. While on POST screen I noticed that the clock on the ram went up, no idea how it happened but it did.

I just recently purchased these sticks http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820226028

Anything to say about them? How are they for overclocking?

Hmm... new way to overclock, by ESD, interesting

The 998681 kit generally does DDR3-1700 -1750 at 8-8-8-24, most kits will go to DDR3-2000 at 9-9-9-27 if your Uncore can keep up.

I am still gathering parts for my build. I did pick up the I7 950 but still trying to decide on memory and motherboard. I will likely get either a Asus Sabertooth X58 or possible a Rampage III Formula. I would like to overclock the system, I am new to it so I would start off slow.

Which kit would you recommend? It would be nice to keep it around $150-200.
Well since this is a Mushkin thread, I feel like it's appropriate to recommend some Mushkin sticks!

I'd recommend the Ridgelines or the Redlines. They're within your budget (right at the top) and they're also the top of Mushkin's line.

Looking at the speeds, timings, and voltages, I'd say they're actually the same sticks but with different heatspreaders. I'm sure Nick or Sean can correct me, though.

If I am correct, grab whichever kit you like better. Memory doesn't get hot enough for the heatspreaders to make too much of a difference.

I do believe those are the same IC"s on both sticks, cause I asked Sean before and he confirmed the 2x2GB kit of C6 Redlines was the same as the C6 Ridgebacks slide the heatspreaders.

Sean and Nick, do you guys mind if we discuss IC's in here? I know it's usually not company policy to openly disclose which IC's are in which sticks (though some of us figure it out ), so I figured it would be best not to specifically bring it up. I'll avoid mentioning specifics (in this thread) until you guys answer

If you are going to overclock I would recommend the same kits that xxbassplayerxx did.
The only difference between the kits is the heat spreader, they both use the same module.

I would prefer if you did not discuss ICs in this thread, it is against company policy for me to discuss ICs, so it puts me in a difficult position. If you ask about ICs I cannot answer.

That being said, if you do discuss ICs here, there is nothing I can really do about it as this is a public forum.

I would hope that if you decide to discuss ICs that you would do it in another thread.
