I haven't tried 8-8-7-24 @ 1600, in fact almost nothing under 10-10-10-29 works. I did manage to get it to run at ~1550 9-9-9-25 with the HTT at 233 and the multiplier at 6.67

I am going to mess with this some more when I have time, and if I can't figure it out I am going to try my friend's older 1.85v 7-7-7-20 kit (996657 IIRC) to see if it works better.

Either way, thanks for the help and I will be sure to let you know what my results are!

Oh geez the latest BIOS is over a year old...
We have one of those boards in the lab, one of the engineers is going to try it and see what he can achieve with those sticks. It may be that the BIOS is too far out of date for the 996825 kit to work at anything decent.
I'll let you know what his results are though.

The 996657 kit should work well on that mobo.

Have you updated to the latest BIOS for the mobo?
The Gigabytes Intel mobos had an issue with the Sandforce controller, I believe all of the mobos have been fixed with BIOS updates.
Get the latest from TweakTown

The 340 fw also fixed a lot of the SMART errors, so make sure you have the latest fw.

Right now I am on a beta BIOS from 2010. I will fool around with different BIOS versions to see if they help. I'll have to do that after work because that involves digging out a floppy drive and all the related time consumption.

If the 996825 works well in the Gigabyte 785GM-US2H (or whatever the DDR3 version is called) motherboard that my friend has the 996657 kit in, I am just going to trade and be done with it, even though the 996825 kit is a really cool kit.

Let me know what the guys in the lab figure out!

sweffymo,

Where did you get the beta BIOS from? The lab only has the latest BIOS from the DFI site.

I think you are going to find you are better off swapping ram, so that you have the 996657 kit for the DFI.

SecrtAgentMan,

Yep there are 2 of us here

Nick is sales and I am support.

http://img.lanparty.tw/Upload/BIOS/CM/D7SD707.exe

It's from July 7th, 2010.

There's actually a whole beta site on the BIOS page, but it's hard to find. There are really tiny links on the right side of the frame that say "Beta Site | Normal Site" or something to that effect.

I think your problem is the beta BIOS.

The lab was able to POST 8-8-8-24 @ 1600
7-8-7-20 3.33 HTT/DRAM ratio at 240 HTT worked

They used the d7sda09 BIOS, the latest one listed on the main site.
sounds like he has a board problem or the kit is bad.

OK, I will try that, and if it doesn't work I am swapping kits.

I ended up swapping kits because I couldn't find my floppy drive.

996657 kit work great on the DFI, and the 996825 kit works great in the Gigabyte. Everyone's happy!

Thanks for the help, Sean!

Hello, just a quick question, I have a #996805 redline kit, 1600Mhz/6-8-6-24 and I'm running a 200x20 i5 750 OC, so I decided to give it a go at 2000Mhz ram speed.
I used the review at mushkin enhanced alpha team of a ridgebacks with same specs, I'm running atm 2000Mhz 7-10-7-24 with 1.65v
Do I need to cool the rams? Or it will be safe to run at this speed without damaging the modules.
(I'm using 1.21875 IMC and 1.9 PLL) I did 2 pass of memtest with no errors, so I assume the timings are stable?
