Mushkin Enhanced Support - Page 40

hello Sean !!

I myself have got Mushkin Black line [991782(996782) ] 1600 DDR3 7-9-7-24 @ 1.65V rated RAM and love it

But my concern is how much should be the max voltage that i can pump in to them before they start to burn themselves ?? I find this can only OC well if i push the voltages high i.e @ 1.740 V as of now.

Where are you located?

Looks to be 5 or more sets in stock here in the UK, but it doesn't look like they deliver outside of their immediate area.

You could always email them and see if they ship overseas, they might?

You could also contact Mushkin directly via phone and see if they have a set they could sell you.

I think a stick of my Mushkin Redline 6GB kit (998805) has died. My system only shows 4 GB when it used to show 6 GB. I have narrowed it down to one stick because if I mix and match 2 sticks at a time it will only register 2 GB when 1 particular stick is being used.

The odd thing is that my RAM passes memtest and Windows memory testing. It's like the stick doesn't even register at all so it isn't being tested.

I know it is not my motherboard because other sticks register in the same slot.

Should I go ahead with a RMA or is there a solution to fix this?

J.M.D,

Sorry for the delay, I was away for a few days.
What do you have your CPU NB voltage at?
Also, I find it is often easier to clock memory on AM3 if you have the memory in the outer ram slots, the black slots on your mobo.

Squabbler,

The 996988 kit is out of stock just about everywhere, it is worth a try to call direct as there may still be a kit at head office. Otherwise it will be several weeks as we are waiting for chips those.

Epitope,

Yeah it sounds like one of those sticks went, the easy way to test for that is to test each stick by itself with MemTest. If you have a defective stick, you'll either get a bunch of errors or the mobo won't POST.

Sounds like you will need to RMA, start a support ticket here to get the RMA rolling.

Hi MushkinSean,

I've just ordered the following Muskin memory to go with a SandyBridge i5 2500K CPU and Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4 motherboard in my gaming HTPC build:
  • 1 x 8GB Mushkin Silverline #996770 (2x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz 9-9-9-24 1.5V

I posted my purchase on another forum and it was suggested that I should have gone for 1600MHz memory rather than 1333Mhz memory as this would give a performance benefit.

Is there any "noticable" performance benefit from the faster memory when gaming?

Thanks
James

There can be; If you can try voiding that order and getting the faster RAM.

Thanks for the reply sean. Well its stable now @ 915 Mhz ( 7-9-7-23-30 ) @ 1.68 V.
Should i be skeptical about that voltage ??
And yes FYI, CPU-NB is @ 1.3875 V. But i found upping the CPU-NB voltage dint help in any ways.
