Mushkin Enhanced Support - Page 43

Hi Sean, first of all, thanks for being here on OCN!

I'm building a new sandy bridge rig, and I have an interesting issue with some Redline RAM. I'm using kit 998691 (1600Mhz, 6-7-6-18-1T, 1.65v), I know it wasn't designed for P67, but I'm hoping to use some of my spare X58 equipment.

System Specs:

Asus P8P67-M Pro: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131707
Mushkin 998691: http://www.mushkin.com/Memory/Redline/998691.aspx
Intel 2500K
GeForce GTS 450
Mushkin Volta 600W PSU
Mushkin Callisto Deluxe 120GB SSD
2x Samsung 2TB HDD
Antec Fusion Black HTPC case

(If you're the one that handles the Facebook account, then you've seen a pic of this rig btw!)

With 2 sticks installed I am able to POST at the XMP settings, 6-7-6-18, 1.65v.
With 4 sticks installed I am able to POST at CAS 7, but CAS 6 will cause a reboot loop.

P8P67-M Pro Settings:

Ai Overclock Tuner: Manual
BCLK Freqency: 100
Memory Frequency: 1600Mhz
Internal PLL: Enabled
EPU Power Saving Mode: Disabled
Turbo Ratio: Auto (For now, I'm worrying about the RAM before any CPU OC's)

DRAM Timing Control: 6-7-6-18-1T (All others Auto)

CPU Ratio: Auto
Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology: Enabled
Turbo Mode: Enabled
Turbo Ratio: same as in the main Ai Tweaker menu
Additional Turbo Voltage (ATV): .004
All other settings leave on Auto

Offset Mode Sign: +
CPU Offset Voltage: 0.005
DRAM Voltage: 1.65v
VCCIO Voltage: 1.2v
PCH Voltage: 1.05v
Load-Line Calibration: Disabled
CPU Spread Spectrum: Disabled

I have already tried increasing the following voltages with no luck:

DRAM Voltage: up to 1.66v
VCCIO Voltage: as high as 1.4v
Additional Turbo Voltage (ATV): .008

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

Hi,

Have you updated to the latest BIOS?

I don't think this is a voltage issue by the symptoms, more likely a BIOS issue or one of the subs is being set weird by the BIOS.

Is the system stable at 7-8-7-20 1T @ DDR3-1866?
First thing I did when I installed the board was update the BIOS, running v0713.

Results:
2 sticks run stable at 1866, 7-8-7-20-1T
4 sticks run stable at 1866, 8-8-7-20-1T

In the other thread, trying 2T was suggested, it had no effect. Also tried bumping the vDIMM to 1.68v for thrills, no effect either. Last thing I tried was using the sticks from my sigrig, since they're 6 consecutive serials, also no change.

I'm going to try 2x sets of 996805 and see what happens.

Ready for any other suggestions you may have and I thank you for your help!

Matt

I'm wondering if it may be the IMC at this point, although I don't know if this is normal behavior for these kits on P67. Haven't seen much else in that regard, and I don't have any kits designed for P67 to test either.

Results with 996805 (DD3-1600, 6-8-6-24-1T, 1.65v):

2 sticks installed: 1600, 6-8-6-24-1T
4 sticks installed: 1600, 7-8-6-24-1T

Thank you again by the way, I know it's not a big performance hit, but if I can achieve rated speeds/timings , I'm all for it

Hey, new to OC'ing ram, had a few questions about timing tightening my Rigback 1600

Will they boot at over 1600?(My lame Gskills will not post over 1333)
Will they allow me to lower the 8-9-8-24 stock timings and post (I am sure I should be able get 7-8-7-21 on the stock 1.6v they are on right?)

Hello I bought a set of Mushkin Enhanced 7-9-7-24 | 998782es 3x2gb through a friend of mine, however he couldn't find the coupon from the place he bought them, and I'm having somewhat of an issue with 1 of them.
I ran memtest86, 1 at a time. But this one (Which does have a minor scratch on the painting but shouldn't be affecting performance) literally "screw up" right before it finished memtest86.
Here is how It looked like before it reached somewhere between 90 & 100%
http://s1131.photobucket.com/albums/...g%20my%20head/
It never managed to tell me if there was an error. But since the screen looked like this I believe something was wrong with it.
My friend never overclocked, and me either

But I do have troubles with my Rampage III extreme, the Q-led's glows red everytime it start/boot-up, and stops when Windows Loading screen appear.
First its the DRAM -> briefly CPU -> Back to DRAM -> then VGA -> BootDevice -> Windows Loading

I've been running the whole system at default -> 1.50v(Auto) and (Auto) timings within BIOS.
I don't dare to change the Volts to stock, since at 1.65V the BIOS tells me it can damage my CPU permanently, but a couple of hours before I ran memtest86 I changed the timings to stock and 1.60V
The first ram *PASSED* But then I plugged in this, and during boot-up system tells me Overclocking Failed! F1 Enter Setup and F2 Return to default settings etc
So I pressed F2, ran MT86 and recieved that issue.
I've got that message a couple of times before after putting in new hardware or replacing anything, but my system is mostly always set to default BIOS, and I never overclocked or tweaked around with anything.
However the third ram *Passed* aswell, though at default settings.

The computer however, runs smooth and stable.
Except when I play Starcraft 2, or this minor game -> Missionred.com - Reflex.te
I get stuttering which lasts 3-5sec, animations goes one, but it does not react on my commands/clicking, when it "normalise" all my clicks will arrive at the area I clicked, but too late etc.
Within SC2 there is lag/stuttering before and when I login to battlenet, and every-time I start a campaign, online match etc. for the first 5sec of the game.

At this moment I don't have that "faulty" ram in my system, but the problem still persist. So I guess its my motherboard which needs a RMA?
Anyways, I would like to know if that 1 ram is defect, and if so what can I do without a coupon?

Thanks in advance
Early Girl

MushkinSean: Is it not at all possible to use the warranty on Mushkin, when I have the serial number? There must be some solution to get support from your company since I do have a product of yours

Whiner,

Sorry for the delay, I don't always get a chance to get on the forum here.

Have you updated to the latest BIOS for the mobo?

That version of MemTest has issues, I think you will have better results with this version http://www.memtest.org/

Try setting the memory like this,

AI Overclock Tuner: Manual
DRAM Frequency: 1600
UCLK Frequency: Auto
QPI/DRAM voltage: 1.350V
DRAM Bus Voltage: 1.60V - 1.64V

Dram Timing Control
DRAM CAS# Latency: 7
DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay: 8
DRAM RAS# PRE Time: 7
DRAM RAS# ACT Time: 20
DRAM RAS# to RAS# Delay: 5
DRAM REF Cycle Time: 88 - 90
DRAM Write Recovery Time: 13
DRAM Read to Pre Time: 8
DRAM Four ACT Win Time: 24
Back to Back CAS# Delay: Auto
DRAM Timing Mode - 1N
leave the other timings at auto

MushkinSean! No problem
But your a genious They are running just fine, I could not understand it, when they bugged like that, cause the previous owner had no trouble with them.
But MemTest 4.20 did the job, and they passed without any errors.

I did as you said above, however I bought 3x2gb of ram a day ago, so I wanted to ask if they can run together with those Mushkin ram I have?
Its a set of G.Skill
I posted a picture of them so you could have a look at their timing and volts. It's the same link as earlier though:
http://s1131.photobucket.com/albums/...g%20my%20head/

Btw, how come the mushkin should not running on the stock timings as mentioned on their label?
