Hey folks

Summer is catching up soon and I thought it was a time for upgrade!

This is only a preliminary list.. feel free to give me suggestions!

- Intel Core i7 930 2,8GHz
- Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600MHz 6GB
- Rampage III Extreme
- 5870 or GTX 480
- Prolimatech Megahalems
- Dell UltraSharp 24" U2410
- Undecided thermal compound

I'll be buying shortly after the R3E is released!

Thanks for suggestions and inputs, they are very welcome!

I'd go 920 just for the fact that you're likely to get a deal on them (being EOL) and from what I understand they overclock same/better.

Who knows what the video card market is anybodies guess but yours should hold you over till the market stabilizes and the reviews are well established.

Everything you have listed looks really solid. I would stick with it, for what we know of as of right now.

It is so hard to say 3 months in advance.

For thermal paste, I would say look at PK-1, or MX-2. Both are solid pastes. I haven't personally used the PK-1 yet, but have heard good things about it.

Stick with the 930, IMO. From the reviews I have seen, it does OC slightly better than the 920. Not that the usual 4.0ghz on the 920 isn't good......

Other than that, stick with what you have. Revisit the ram to make sure that a better version hasn't hit the market by then, and the video card....well. That is almost always a decision that should be made at the time of purchase.

Good Luck, and enjoy the upgrades!

I wish. EOL products fall max 2 % off original price here in Norway (Some stores even has the 920 highed priced than the 930)

go with the 5970 that thing looks nasty and go with a 5870 over the 480 if u are going that route...it will be cheaper/ better...

for thermal compound...arctic silver 5 or mx2. Your PSU is beast...so you have tons of headroom for any upgrade in terms of power consumption.
Your intended build is perfectly solid from the looks of it...I really like the 24" dell ultrasharp decision. For your next gpu I would wait for fermi's release to analyze the price/performance ratio compared to ati's cards. The supposed price of the 480 is $500 and has a 10-15% advantage over the 5870...but is likely to dominate dx11 titles. Overall your build will put a smile on your face once completed.
