VIA VT2020 or Realtek ALC889?

I seem to hear nothing but bad stuff about VIA drivers and whatnot, especially since in some cases (like this one), they are specific to ASUS. Right now, it's pretty much the deciding factor in which motherboard I get (since I won't have space for a sound card if/when I Crossfire/Sli).

Now I can barely find any info about the VT2020, let alone a comparison with the ALC889...can anybody help?

You better get a mobo with realtek, they make decent onboard sound chips...

VIA VT2020 has better specs, but worse "output lines". if you are using regular speakers or headphones, the vt2020 is a better choice imo.

I've never had a good experience with VIA and never a bad one with Realtek.

I'll stick with Realtek.
