First pays back

Thread Starter
It's really nice to get money back every month. I have 5 loans out right now and so I get like 5-7 dollars a month back.

This is really nice because I can keep it going. I just make another loan and had 6.25 of credit already so I could technically give less and still help out the same.

Pretty soon, I'll probably be able to give $50 twice a month simply because $25 of it will be repaid loans!

Kiva has a really nice system going on here.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean.

I mean eventually they'll finish paying me back, but hopefully by that time I have more loans that are paying me back. I know that some risk is involved with these, but I honestly don't believe that losing the max amount of $50 a month is really a big deal to me since it's helping (hopefully) someone else.

I agree. If nothing else, we've helped people take a stab at a dream and whether they succeed or fail they had a chance. It's the least I can do for someone that far removed from myself, both in location and situation.

The money we spend on BS in one month is more than some families see in 6 months.

Let our fortune benefit another's misfortune and the world will be a better place.

I agree. I have only given four small 50 dollar loans at this point, but I am planning to give more. Once I get money from my parents, money is going the way of kiva. There is a small risk and a huge benefit. I spend $40k a year on high school, it is the least I can do. Especially when I kill ~ 300 people in Africa through opportunity costs (~120 dollars a head is a typical estimate for food and basic hygeine for a year)

I don't do much, but I try to give out another $25 every month I can. Sometimes I can't, sometimes I can, but I'm looking forward to seeing the money start coming back so I can start sending it back out again.
