What are you guys' opinions on a push/pull set up with the DK? Also, what would be the best way to get the second fan on there? My best bet would be zip ties.

I asked this in a another thread before. And people said zip ties are the best way to get a second fan on it. But if you were wondering whether they would make a difference, the answer is no. But I could be wrong. Users have stated that you will only get 1-2 Celsius lower. If that makes a difference to you, then by all means, go for it.

Good luck!

Right, so I got my custom mount yesterday! Before I started installing it, I took apart my whole system and did a big cleaning operation to it. I could have cleaned it more if I wanted to, but I wanted to get my system back and running as soon as possible. I took one whole day of cleaning the system and then another whole day (today) installing everything again and redoing my whole cable management.

So, here is a "before" picture:

My Xigmatek:

My Xigmatek, all cleaned and ready for the custom mount:

Fan attached:

Custom mount attached:

And the "after" picture!:

All up and running:

My setup

And finally, my IDLE temperatures. The fan is pushing air towards the heatsink. Ambient temperature currently, 18-19°C:

My core temperatures fluctuate between 18°C and 19°C. I have not tested LOAD temperatures yet, but before I got the new mount, they never went above 30°C!

So there you, that is my system setup how it should be! Now I also have access to ALL four RAM slots!

I am happy with my cable management, though one thing that still bothers me is the power cable for my sound card. However, it does not disrupt airflow at all and it only bothers me for aeshetic reasons only.

There, overclocked to 3.5ghz. My ambient temperatures are about 22-23°C.

Idle:

Load:

It has been stable for now, playing some games and just running how I normally have been running. I ran Prime95, using small fft's for one whole test which was about 20 minutes and everything was fine. I have not run Prime95 for several hours yet, I will be doing that, to test its real stability.

Tizmo, great job so far!

About those screws on the custom bracket, what size are they? Also, I am assume it will need philip screwdrivers to attach.
Sure why not. I've had one for about a year now with naf's custom mounting bracket.

Push/pull is only effective if you force the air through the heatsink and not allow it to escape out. I did a tape mod on mine. It's hard to tell in the pic above but this pic shows what I mean. Basically seal up the sides so the air is forced through.

Tape mod will make push/pull much more effective.

Well, turns out that overclock was not completely stable. I BSOD'd when I powered my system on from standby. I have since reverted back to stock because I updated my BIOS. I did overclock back to 3.3ghz on stock voltages and everything is fine right now. I will be testing how far I can go on stock voltages.

About the screws etc, check out this post:

This is the info I used to install my mount.
