The Official Xigmatek Dark Knight Owners Club - Page 10

Ah, a new DK club eh ? I've had my Xiggy DK for about a year now. It's still doing well and a perfect price/performance heatsink. Gotta love the black (nickel-plated) heatsinks.

Anyways, here's mine:

I picked up my DK when I built my P55 rig back in December and it performs great on the i5-750.

I experimented a bit with a shroud on it but eventually took it off due to ram clearance.

Nice. And yes, the RAM clearance is an issue for me as well. A shroud takes up too much space. I don't know if there would be that much difference anyway, maybe -1c ? I don't know for sure.

I do think there was a slight difference of ~ 1c, but when I took it off I did notice what dust was on the fins was in a tight group circle close to the center of the fins so I figured the shroud was working.

btw I want to join the club!

I dont have the DK, but I got the balder and man I'm impressed. My 5 year old PC used to have 65C idle temps and would get to 104 playing borderlands lol. With my new PC I'm idling in the mid 20's. When I overclock my i5-750 it goes from the mid 20's to 30-35. I don't even think my temps have went over 50C while gaming. I am impressed by xigmatek!

Use the right side of the LGA 775/1366 mounting bracket
Also, be sure to use the black sticky stuff on the side that will be touching the motherboard. It helps it stay on as well as stop the board from shorting (the bracket is metal).

Also, rubber bands are helpful for keeping fans in place while setting up push/pull. Unless you've got four hands or a helper, rubber bands will keep you from shouting a string of expletives that would put even a pirate to shame.

But, after all the pain of putting it on, it works like a charm

Huh? What are you talking about? Are you trying to give me tips? I am still using the stock cooler at the moment.

I only mentioned that this thread can be use to discuss anything about the Xigmatek DK, lol.

Well, i just finished my new paint job on my sniper sporting the xiggy dark knight and with the new color scheme my temps went down....lol well, maybe not! but it looks cool.

I wish i could have found some zip-ties in that pumpkin color to finish it off.
You know their are alot off people raving about the venomous-x and it being one of the top contenders but to tell ya the truth this xdk isn't that far off the mark and to spend maybe $25 more than the xiggy to gain say 5/7c....i'll keep my xiggy.

Ok, my question to you xdk members.....is it worth it to you? I mean spend that extra money to gain 5/7c?
Anyway enough ranting here's some new pic's we all love pic's.

Well, with the temperatures that I get, I wouldn't even think about changing my cooler at this stage.
