AMD-based system...

Thread Starter
I dont exactly know where to put this thread, so i'm putting it here as it is an AMD-based system i am looking to build. What i wanted was some helpful advice on these components i have found on ebuyer, and which seem to me to be the best available for the money. I am hoping to flash the 6800 LE to a GS, as i mainly use my machine for games and haven't the money to get a full-blown GFX card (has anyone?). As i don't want to have to buy a soundcard as well, i was wondering if this motherboard's integrated was ok, as my present nForce 2's is fine. I have an ATX case so i should be able to keep that, shouldn't i?...

ECS arent known for there OCing. If you want to get more bang for the buck there are other boards to consider. That way you can squeeze a bunch more performance from the 3200

On the Vid CArd flash... not my area ask in the nVidia section on the possibility of flashing if you are unsure of that possibility.

I don't think that the PCI-E version unlock like the AGP ones.
If that's the case, I'd go for a 6600GT over the 6800LE. Here's one for under a £100: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/6600_Series.html

Surely a 6600 (even GT) wouldn't be much better than my present card (overclocked a fair bit 325-380/310-350mhz). In that case, are there any good 939 mobos that are both AGP and PCI-E? I'm not bothered about SLI or Crossfire...

No, probably not, but the 6600GT is generally better than a 6800LE at stock.
There's only the ASRock Dual SataII boards that support AGP and PCI-E, but they're quite limited in terms of overclocking. Only 1.45v vcore without a volt mod.

I've been thinking, I'm not going to be able to get £300 together for AGES. could I maybe upgrade to a 3200+ and an x800 agp? Also, if i did, I think i would add another 512 Ram (KVR). Does anyone know any good uk sites to buy ram from? Would it be worth the upgrade?

If I were you I would keep saving your money...that way you dont get something just to hold you over, and regretting getting the equipment. What games you play?
