And why doesn't my stuff over there<<<<<<<<say anything about my folding stats??
My orthos test at 2.9GHz with 1.44v didn't fail...the program just froze after about four hours, I was really angry. So now I'm screwing Orthos, just running dual Primes.

You can PM Taeric and he'll fix your folding stuff for you.

Actually, if you run your cpu on lower volts to start with it will "burn in" and "learn" to use lower volts with more Mhz.
Typically I start out at below stock volts and clock it up as high as it will run stable then prime it for hours, then run it for days/weeks at that speed and volts. Then bump the volts up a tad and push the clock up more, run it for awhile, then repeat until no matter what volts you put it at it won't clock higher or more stable.

Opteron 185? It just has a 13x multi is all. Nothing different than a 165. Still won't do more than 3Ghz most likely.

Your post bits for folding haven't been updated because they have been having problems with them. Hence the reason mine still says my old team.

Thats not just a freeze up of the program, thats a fail. Either the program will give you the failed sign, or the rig will freeze, either way the overclock isn't stable and you need to back it down, up the volts or cool it better.

Nono, it didn't fail and the rig didn't freeze. The taskbar icon showed that it was still running, but taskmanager said that the process wasn't using any CPU cycles. When I tried to restore the window, it just wouldn't come up.

I am almost positive that it was the program, and not my rig, and I will prove that as soon as my dual primes don't fail.

So if you run at 12 multi x250...with 1:1 ratio and could get tight timings like 2-2-2-5 1T that would be good ...right?? That would take less stress to get 3.0 it seems to me. Any thoughts??

There are two restrictions when it comes to overclocking the CPU. One is restriction on the FSB, and the other is just a big wall on the clock of the CPU. In other words, if your mobo can handle a higher FSB than you currently have, but you still can't get it stable, it's your CPU hitting its clock wall.

You would want a higher multiplier if your motherboard can't handle the high FSB. But since you're at 3.0GHz with a 9x multi, you seem to be fine.

Cool I understand that much of it...I just wondered would there be better performance from 1:1 ratio and tighter timings than running my set up now on a divider and looser timings...

Yeah, that would be good. the higher multi helps your motherboard and your ram. if either aren't good beyond a certain fsb. the higher multi also helps if you are going to be extreme cooling, like phase or TEC. As at lower temps a cold bug would stop you from clocking higher as the board won't run a high fsb with the sub zero temps.

As soon as you can pull this off I will believe.

I'll post that tomorrow, assuming these primes don't fail. My temps won't be that low though. With the panel off, at night, window open, coolest I can get it is 46. Gonna order a Silverstone fan and a lapping kit as per suggestions.
