Thanks man. I'd be posting more frequently but I'm in law school and it's getting near finals time, which is always catastrophically insane. I'll be on more in a couple weeks to experiment.

I changed the timings and frequency in the BIOS to 8-8-8-2 and 1600 respectively. I feel like a technological ape.

With your law school finals coming up, if you need your computer for them I would leave it at default settings for EVERYTHING, as overclocking it, and it not being stable, can/will cause blue screens, and you would HATE to get one while working on a project.

I am in school also, I leave one rig "unmolested" by my meddling hands (not suprisingly it is my Dell Optiplex 330, a good one to just leave alone) you need a rig that won't let you down or take away your brain power for you studies, they come way before any overclock work.

In regards to RAM timings, there is much to do with overclocking before you even need to read up on just what each of those timing numbers mean. You can do a tremendous amout of expereminting with your unlocked cpu and not touch RAM timings. Good luck on the mid-terms.

Thanks, trying my best to ignore the computer and concentrate on finals, but it's tough. On the other hand, if I can't get a job within 6 months of school 120k of student loan debt will come crashing down and the PC is liable to get seized, so....probably better study
