Asus P5LD2 Deluxe

Thread Starter
I brought a Asus P5LD2 Deluxe, and i was having problems trying to get it to boot, im useing a intel P4 550 3.4ghz , and i have samsung ram thats listed in the QVL, anyway, i put the system togther, turn it on, no boot, no beeps nothing no video, only fans spin and neons turn on, i put my ram, cpu, gfx, into my old computer and it booted fine (the ram, cpu, gfx, hard drive, sound card) are all out of my old computer.so im thinking it must be a dud motherbaord.

then i put the parts back into the Asus P5LD2 Deluxe and still no boot nothing, so i took my ram out, tried 1 stick in solt 1, no boot, tried in slot 2, no boot, tried in 3 BOOT tried and 4 BOOT. so im thinking maybe the first two ram slots are dead, if i tried ram in slot 1 or 2 it would not boot, so i did combernations of like , solt 1 and 2, 1 and 3, 3 and 4, 2 and 3, 2 and 4, but as long there was ram in slot 1 or 2 it refused to boot. so im guessing its a dud motherbaod.

also has anyone got a Asus P5LD2 Deluxe or know of anyone that has one, did htye ever have problems with it?

Have you tested the PSU that you're using with the P5LD2 with your old system? That can sometimes be an issue with non-boots. Also, did you connect both power connectors to the mobo? It's not uncommon to forget the smaller connector. Also, try booting the system outside of the case. Since you know your other components are fine, if the few suggestions here don't help, it may be time to RMA the board.

That was my thought as well......power.....but then it shouldn't boot even with RAM in other slots. Depending on how many drives you have, it sounds like you need at least 400w, probably 450 to be safe.

When it booted up with the RAM in Slot 3 and 4, did you check it and see if it was stable? Or just get the boot screen and turn it off?

If the system booted and was stable, I would say you are right, the RAM slots are defective and RMA the board.......

i have a thermaltake 430w psu, it boots my old system fine. i tried also booting my system out of the case same effect. i took it back to the shop today, and they use corsair ram and it booted fine in slot 1 and 3. so im guessing my ram is fualty. but if its fualty why would my ram boot in slot 3 and 4, just fualty ram or what?

To definitively test if it's your RAM, try one stick at a time in any slot. Run Memtest86 for two or three passes on each DIMMs that way. If you get errrors, your RAM or RAM settings is the culprit (you'll get tons of errors if there's a problem). Just be sure to disable Legacy USB support in the BIOS before running Memtest, or you'll get lots of "false" errors.
