Got a fat PSP-1000 in a custom silver shell running 6.39 PRO-B9. Add me to the club.

Now if only I could find a SEGA fan thread around here, since I have every Sega console except the Master System...

There are certainly enough SEGA fans around here on OCN, I am surprised we don't have our own club... hmm... thinking.gif

I'm a big Sega myself, have the original Master System, Genesis 3 and Dreamcast. My uncle had a Sega Saturn, but he gave it away before I knew he didn't want it anymore. frown.gif

Yeah exactly! I assumed there HAD to be a Sega club around here somewhere but I don't see one. We should start one and just list the requirement for joining to be owning at least one classic Sega console...

A Genesis 3 is pretty sweet, except I don't think it can play the taller EA carts that don't pass the TMSS check. I'm pretty sure it can't do any of the 3d games (Virtua Racing) that have a coprocessor in the cart.

I got this recently, hopefully some psp fans can appreciate it:

450
450

System was $30, got 10 games from someone on craigslist for $30 and the mint carrying case was $5 on ebay. I even fixed the thing up by taking it apart and pressing on the old caps to fix a battery problem, and I cleaned it up with Hydrogen Peroxide (removes yellowing) and used Meguiar's Scratch-X on the clear plastic screen cover. It looks almost new!

Personally I have 2 Dreamcasts (and a keyboard!), a Model 1 High Definition Graphics Genesis w/ TMSS (best Genesis you can own), a model 2 Saturn, and the Game Gear. I've even got Shining Force for GG, and recently got Phantasy Star 4 for Genesis for $15 with shipping.

Sorry for derailing the psp thread haha, I got a psp solely for Phantasy Star Portable 2 and it's a great system wink.gif

Well, no worries about derailing the PSP club, *dodges blowing tumbleweed*, this club is pretty much dead. wink.gif

But in all seriousness, we should start a SEGA club. Perhaps we can open it up to anyone who loves all things SEGA, since they've been out of the hardware business for a while now. frown.gif We can keep it active by tracking new first-party SEGA videogame releases, as well as any info, new and old on the systems themselves. What do you think? thumb.gif

BTW, that GG looks awesome. The first true competitor to Nintendo handheld domination (and later picked up by Sony with the PSP biggrin.gif).

And yeah, my Genesis 3 isn't compatible with any non-standard carts, or any accessories. I have a Master System adapter, and it doesn't work. frown.gif I'd love to get my hands on an original Model 1 Genesis.

I've never run a club, nor do I know how to use Google spreadsheets etc to add people. If you wanna be the founder, and add new members, I can provide supplementary information on the systems and games. I'm a pretty big collector and know a lot about Sega stuff. I agree in letting anyone join, but it'd be a bonus if they own a console. Perhaps we can let people sign up and optionally provide what hardware they have to add to a spreadsheet. I'd agree on tracking upcoming Sega stuff (Phantasy Star Online 2!!) but we can also provide links to retro stuff.

Also, I've really wanted a Power Base Converter (the MS adapter you have)- would you be willing to sell it since you have an SMS? PM me. I know a place around here that has one but they want $49.99 for it and that's steep considering I'd also have to buy SMS games. I'd love a copy of Phantasy Star, Wonderboy in Monster Land and a converter for them smile.gif Interestingly, the Power Base Converter is no more than a cartridge slot adapter and a chip that signals the slave Zilog Z80 coprocessor in the Genesis unit to function in master mode; the Motorola 68000 in the Genesis hands control to the Z80, the same processor in the SMS, to run Master System software. The Genesis was basically designed to be backward compatible from the beginning..

Yeah, sure, I'd love to found the SEGA club. I'm thinking a suitable title would be: SEGA AGES: The OCN Sega Fan Club, named after Sega's re-release series in Japan.

And that's what its called, the Power Base Converter. I forgot the name, so I just called it the MS adapter. And yep, its all just passive circuitry, but despite this, it sure is a sizable hunk of plastic. kookoo.gif

I probably would sell it to you, except the SMS is in Iowa at a relative's, and my Genesis (with the adapter) is in New Mexico at my parents'. rolleyes.gif Just keep an eye out on ebay, I think I got mine for about $30 with a few SMS games a couple years ago.

I'm using the PSP to keep up with my Sega equipment through emulation. biggrin.gif I'm glad the Genesis and SMS emulators run very nicely, unlike the SNES PSP emu.

Keep an eye out for the club, I'll probably start it tonight once I get some things around. I'll post back here once its up too. thumb.gif

EDIT: SEGA IS ALIVE! (here)

I own a PSP 2001 and I absolutely love it!
Been playing with a friend a lot of MHFU lately.
I want to join the club -though it seems a bit dead by now u.u- I also wanted to know how to fix my stuck left dpad key -I'll try isopropyl alcohol on the contacts tomorrow, cleaned them with a towel and it didn't work-

Good luck with the button cleaning, and please report back how it works. I have a sticky trigger on a PS controller I'd like to fix. The only way I've done anything in the past to fix these sorts of problems is to simply push the button so many times it begins to lossen up. rolleyes.gif

It's not so much that it's physically stuck...I used some wd40 to lubricate the analog stick and some got inside the contact under the rubber that sits under the dpad buttons. That liquid seems to never go away and it's like I'm always pressing the left and up button when I'm not.
I've already removed the faceplate and cleaned it with a paper towel but the liquid didn't go away completely, so the problem persists. Before that I used to have a stuck down button to. Now it's only left and up.

I've ordered 1L of isopropyl alcohol today, luckily I'll be able to fix it.
Had my psp overclocked from day one, and filled it with cool homebrews too! biggrin.gif

-btw, drooling over that game gear too! Though I'm more of a Nintendo/Sony guy-
