BIG thanks to PapaSmurf for helping me put this TOC together
Well I have been looking at building a new system because mine is rather dated and beginning to literally shake its self to death.
so money has been a problem for me for the last 5 years or so after my Dad got cancer (hes all healthy now and kicking harder than before he got sick) and the insurance company decided to not pay. but as I stated above its time for a new rig. so because i only had about $300 bucks to spare this month after bills and taxes and cutting out fun stuff I decided to start buying components.
to start i grabbed a CM Storm Scout and Corsair 950TX and a bunch of CM R4s for cheeps at a local companies going out of business sale ( they were a crappy suppler any way)
heres the plan of action as is stands right now.
-Cut a new clear side window
-(done) New stainless hardware to hold the window in
-Sleeving the cables in the case
- Open up the front and top fan holes
- cut the plastic cross hairs out of the front bezel
- wire the fan controller power into the scouts LED switch the R4s wont work on it so its a useless switch (or maby to the new EL wire plan?)
- Build a 120mm Fan holder for the 5.25in bays
- Paint yellow diagonal stripes across the 5.25in bay screens and a radiation warning symbol thing on the larger bottom fan screen and some on the top plastic covers. (and some text but im not sure how to do that yet)
- EL Wire red or yellow? ( in the front bezel (up the 2 channels about a centimeter in from the sides and mayby some more in other places as accents inside
- 2 more Y type harnesses for fans (making them custom lengths and im just too cheap to buy them
- real water cooling? maybe if i can find the cash to do much more than an H50 ill do a CPU/GPU loop with a full coverage block and 2 120mm rads but im gonna need to do pricing on that and some more measurements for the cooling duct (any numbers would be WONDERFUL if you have them)
- PSU/leftover cable cover. (its a 950 TX... i have 200 miles of cable to hide)
i will probably come up with a few more ideas as this goes along but this is where it all begins any way is it not?
My Scout and the rest of the stuff i got at the sale.
any questions/comments/any thing else are welcomed!
